Sariah let out a sigh as the limo her parents had insisted on taking to this royal assembly pulled up outside the conference hall. The place was crawling with Moroi and Guardians alike, all in a hurry to make sure everything was in order for the royal families who would be holding an important gathering in just a few short minutes.
She was just about to turn around and ask her parents why SHE had to be here when her door was opened by one of the many Guardians who stood by to escort the Moroi inside. Might as well get this over with. she thought to herself as she slid from the car into the cool evening air. Her parents joined her a moment later and they quickly made their way inside.
The conference room was packed with the twelve royal families and their Guardians. It was a wonder anyone else could fit in the room let alone find anywhere to sit. The Guardian who had opened the door for her were very efficient at doing her job and led them to their seats before she quietly left to assist someone else.
As soon as the last of the royals had arrived the new queen Vasalisa Dragomir rose from her seat and waited for a moment as the room quieted down. As she waited Sariah took a moment to look at the young women who had become one of her best friends over the past three months since she had met her and her colorful group of friends during a vote on restoring the graduation age of dhampirs to eighteen.
She still didn t understand what had come over her to make her stand up and yell at the Ozera council member but she had and had been rewarded when the queens guardian Rose Hathaway had started clapping at her in approval. The meeting of course had been called to a close but after that she had found herself hanging out with the rag tag group and becoming the best of friends with them all.
Well all of them but Adrian Ivashkov. He was always pushing people away and snapping at them. She had wondered for a while why but soon found out from Rose that he was upset at her for not loving him as much as she loved Dimitri. Over time though she had accomplished what many had thought impossible. She had slowly gained his trust enough that he allowed her to at least sit by him and make casual conversation. It wasn t much but hey it was a start.
Her thoughts of Adrian were interrupted when Lissa began to speak. I would just like to start this meeting off with a quick thank you to everyone who came today. I know with Victor Dashkov still on the loose and building his army of freedom fighting dhampirs it has seriously harmed not only ourselves but our guardians as well.
Way to go Lissa. she grinned as the last words left the princesses mouth and the room erupted in an uproar.
