I gasped as the mirror hit the ground and shattered. The scar Seifer had left me with, it was so much longer than I thought. I slowly ran an ungloved hand down it, from above my right eyebrow ending an inch, maybe less, beneath my left eye.

The mirror.

I knelt down to pick up the pieces, reaching for the largest one first. Blood dripped from my unprotected palm and splashed on the mirror part I had been holding. I left my hand, hovering, almost quivering, above the glass.

A broken mirror.

More red fell, this time on the piece beside the first, spreading my pain.

My life ...

This simple slab of glass was my life. It was so identical.

A *broken* mirror.

My teammates, friends, were each one of the smaller chips. Each one seeing me differently, none of them seeing *me*.

Scattered pieces.

I took my glove, tried to clean up the blood, knowing the leather wouldn't absorb, only stain. Like my life.

Never quite a whole.

I whipped my glove across the room. It landed against the door, leaving a crimson streak. I grabbed my shirt, the one I'd stripped off earlier, and tried to clean the marks. The spot grew bigger on the white material.

Pain spread slowly.

Tears started to fall, mingling with the blood. I whipped my head back and forth. It only made the tears hit more of the mirror.

Until you leave it.

I sat back, leaned against my bed. I give up. Tears ran freely down my cheeks, splashing on my bare shoulders.

Where it fell.

Looked at the ground, smeared blood on the glass, on the tile floor. It had already started drying. I rubbed my finger on the linoleum, flaking off scarlet chips, dripping blood from my palm onto the ground.

Give up the fight.

I laid back, rubbed my hand across the scar. I opened my eyes. Blood dripped off my eyelashes and onto my cheeks. I fell asleep.

Rest.

*ANs: Inspired by the song 'Small Two of Pieces' the english ending to the video game Xenogears. Note to anyone who ever meets me: Don't give me a song to listen to when I'm obssessed with one particular video game. You *will* get a poem or story.
P.S. The lyrics can be found here http://www.animelyrics.com/game/xenogear/xenostop.htm
and I downloaded the song at www.audiogalaxy.com/satellite, it's highly recommended.
