Cloud knew Kadaj was dying. Sephiroth could take the attack. But Kadaj couldn't. He merely whispered Yazoo's name. Yazoo, also weak almost as bad as Kadaj, ran toward him. He grabbed his hand and for the first time in his life he felt tears running down his cheeks. Loz and Cloud watched. They knew Kadaj was Yazoo's everything. He always protected him. Thought Yazoo didn't make a sound, they knew he was crying.

Kadaj was dying and it was obvious. Yazoo was crying hard now finally screaming, "KADAJ!"
Cloud, who was still holding Kadaj, put a comforting hand on his shoulder. Yazoo looked up. He wanted Kadaj to live. To know what it's like not being controlled. He wanted Kadaj to have a better life. But it was too late. Kadaj was an inch away from death. Cloud used some Restore Materia and it kept Kadaj alive long enough to heal him.
Made me promise I'd try
To find my way back in this life.
I hope there is a way
To give me a sign you're ok.
Reminds me again it's worth it all
So I can go on.
Yazoo never left Kadaj's side. Cloud hardly did either. They took Kadaj back to there home in the Forgotten City. Cloud knew Yazoo was tired. He hadn't slept in 5 days. But Cloud couldn't blame Yazoo. Like Yazoo, Kadaj was also his little brother. Kadaj made no sound at all. Yazoo was beginning to worry. "Kadaj… give me a sign your okay…"
Kadaj made a small whimper. He began to stir and barely opened his eyes. Yazoo smiled and hugged Kadaj. He was alive.

"Y-Yazoo…"
Cloud smiled. Kadaj was okay. Or so they thought. Kadaj soon fell into unconscious again. Yazoo was worried to death. Cloud assured him he'd be okay. After a while, Cloud made Yazoo fall asleep. Yazoo's head was resting on Kadaj's stomach and he was still holding Kadaj's hand. He felt Kadaj's slow but steady breathing. Occasionally, Kadaj made a soft noise. Kadaj was going to be all right.

When Yazoo woke up he saw Kadaj's smile. It was that cute and innocent smile he always had when he was little. Yazoo stroked Kadaj's silver hair. "I love you till the end of time."
Kadaj smiled and sat up. Yazoo hugged Kadaj and for the first time Kadaj hugged back.
