Hi! A note from Ruby, your author here! I'm glad you've made it this far and I hope you'll enjoy this collection of all things Pirate-ish...and if you review it'd make me happier than Jack Sparrow with a whole crate of rum! (*Thankyou very much to Pendragonnink for your advice! As you can see, I've taken it...and it made my day to know you enjoyed the poem so much!*)

This poem is about a Captain Pirate and his new baby. It's only my first try, so don't forget to let me know what you think! It may not seem to make any sense because I made it too metaphorical......

Sparrow in the Nest

Your eyes have more depth than any ocean

I drown as I look into them

Bluer than any sky

The envious sun looks dull, compared to your radiance

Your tiny fingers enclose around mine

A ship, holding onto its anchor

Your life lies before you

An unsailed sea, a new horizon

Write your words upon the water

I will not hold you back

Don't let me be your anchor

Fly, higher than any gull

Write your story in the stars

Your tiny heart beats freedom,

Follow it, follow it.....

You will never be a lone ship, my child,

Let me be the wheel

Steer you from all harm

Guard you from the storm

I have no compass

And know not of any direction

Yet you know, wherever I am

You can find me

The Father-ship

Always waiting for your safe return

You, my child are more precious to me

Than all the gold in any cavern

In any world, any ship, anywhere
