Little Things.

Percy picked up the package on his doorstep.

"Ah, the chocolate frogs I ordered finally arrived. Fantastic!" He said loudly, to no one in particular. You never knew who was listening these days.

Once he was safely inside and secure, he peeled the ingredients label off the box, shoving the candy into a drawer. It wasn't the chocolate he was interested in. Passing his wand over the nutritional information and mumbled an incantation. The paper shimmered and the words became all squiggly, rearranging themselves into a script that was so familiar to him.

Dearest Percy,

I'm not going to be all alone for Hanukkah after all! My neighbor invited me to come celebrate with her family! She and her husband are so nice and they have their first kid on the way. Oh, and my boss just approved the budget for my latest project! Things are going well here. I miss you ever day. Stay safe.

Love, Penny.

Percy half-smiled, quickly memorizing the words before setting the paper on fire with a flick of his wand. As he watched the flames die down, he silently ran the words over his tongue over and over.

Penelope was happy, she was making a life for herself in New York. Even though selfish part of him ached for the letters where she pined for home- for him- Percy couldn't wish for anything else.

Everything was going to shit in London. At least someone he loved was safe and content. Sending Penny away was the one thing he'd done right.
