~His Second Christmas~

Conner took in a deep breath of clean country air as he fixed up his snowman's figure. The sky was still a clear blue even with white snow gently falling down. His "team" (they were more like siblings except for M'gann) was away; Robin and Artemis were in Gotham, Kid was with Flash, M'gann was visiting Mars with Manhunter, and Aqualad was visiting Atlantis. They and some of the Justice League members were all slightly concerned about where he was going to go during the Christmas season since he would be alone at Mount Justice. It took Conner a couple of days to convince the team and Black Canary that he already made plans and would be fine.

He was now in Smallville, playing in the snow. The sudden feel of snow hitting the back of his head caused the super powered teen to whip around. Standing in the snow with a smile that told Conner that he was the snow ball throwing culprit, was Clark Kent (aka) Superman, his dad. The older man walked over with his hands now back in his jacket packets, his boots crunching the snow. He ruffled Conner's hair and the teen smiled, glad that his dad had finally opened up to him.

As it turned out (well, only Conner was told about this from the Man of Steel and no one else knows about it right now), Clark accepted him as a son since the Cadmus incident. It was just that the country man, when he is in the red cape and blue tights, is known to have some powerful enemies, mainly Lex Luthor. And Clark didn't want Conner to get hurt, or worse killed, because they were close, let alone father and son. Clark told him, and Conner quotes, "It always ripped my heart up when I acted like I didn't acknowledge your existence, though it didn't hurt as much as the look of hurt and sadness that would enter your eyes did". Clark and Conner worked out a plan. When they were Superman and Superboy, they would act like the unacceptance from Superman was still there. But as Clark and Conner, they would be father and son, and son and grandson to Jonathan and Martha Kent.

"What' cha thinking about, Conner?" His dad's voice sliced into the boy's thoughts, and he shook his head. Patches of snow fell from his inky black locks.

"Just remembering some past things." A knowing look entered Clark's brown eyes but disappeared when he and Conner got nailed in the back of the head by snowballs. The pair whipped around and was shocked to find Martha and Jonathan Kent standing there with snowballs in their hands and a victory smile on each of their aging faces. Krypto, the small dog that Cadmus experimented on and was found right before Thanksgiving, barked happily, his tail wagging with the snow blending in with his fur.

Martha called out to the two superheroes, "Better get ready boys, otherwise you two are going to lose this battle! And no using your powers either!" Conner looked up to Clark, who had a smile slowly spreading across his face.

"C'mon son. We don't what to disappoint them. Just be carefully, they're still pretty old." Clark's last comment earned him two snowballs straight in the face.
