HOMEWORK
"Dinah, please help me!"
Dinah Glass looked up to see a small boy standing in the doorway of her temporary home, waving a piece of paper. She sighed, closed her book, and beckoned him in.
"What do you want?"
"Can you help me with my Maths homework, please?"
The boy thrust the paper onto the desk, which Dinah was seated at, and pointed a stubby finger towards the equations.
"I don't get any of it! I've got Maths tomorrow and I'll get sent to the Headmaster if I don't do it!"
There was a hint of desperation in the boy's voice that matched the expression on his face. Dinah sighed again and glanced at the paper. To her able mind, they were easy. Obviously not for others.
She studied the boy before her, noting the courage that it took into asking her. Her, the strange girl who had moved in a week ago. Her, who the boy had welcomed and had made her feel at home, (albeit reluctantly). Dinah felt the need to repay him.
"Ok, I'll help you."
The boy's face split into a wide grin.
"Thanks, Di!"
With that, he retreated from the room. Dinah, now content, put her head down and set to work.
