There was just.... something about her, something he didn't understand, maybe it was the depth of her brown eyes that seem to draw him in when he was near her, maybe it was the way his silent heart beat faster with each step he took nearer to her maybe it was the longing he felt with each step he took farther away from her, whatever it was it drove his head to distraction and his still heart to feel like it could almost live again.
Why should this girl be any different, I mean he had been with plenty of girls in the past, why did this girl make him never want to leave her side or when she cried to make the person who made her sad, Suffer. Until the moment the brink of death approached them. Who knows because he certainly didn't, he didn't know but some how he felt like he didn't want to know because that might make the magic disappear. The magic that somehow each time he looked at her made her more like the angel he knew her to be. He remembered what his grandfather had told him when he was a small boy "true love is when you look at the other person and see your whole life before your eyes" he never thought that possible.... until that first moment he saw her.
Each moment he got to spend with her, each time he got to hear herlaugh, each graceful movement she made, each time she looked into his eyes he knew she was looking deep within his soul, these things and her are what made him feel more blessed to be alive, to be around her to, to be with her. Forever.
The harsh coldness of his existence in this world, did not pay the slightest bit of detail when she was near him, when she spoke gently and calmly in his ear, the warmth she erupted within him was like nothing he ever knew existed before, by just the simplest touch, brushing her fingers against his cheek was like lighting a fire within him, his heart soared and longed to feel her touch always, she made him feel again, she made him love because he loved her and the most important thing to him – she loved him too.. Together always. For Eternity.
He still remembered the other thing his grandfather had told him all those years ago, one of the few and rare things he remembers of that life,
"Why should some gain in greed what others suffer in loss?"
He began to think was he being selfish by taking all her love for himself? For never wanting to let go? For taking her heart? The loss being that others could not have the chance to win over his fair maidens' heart?
Perhaps. But he decided he didn't care, he wanted to be selfish and greedy for once, he had spent years sacrificing everything for everyone else... but for her love he would be selfish greedy and ruthless a hundred times over just to hold her in his arms .Just to see her smile. Just to be with her and hear those 3 little words that gave him courage beyond anything remotely near what he knew he possessed. 3 little words,8 little letters but so many meanings to so many people. Something so hard to gain but so fragile and easy to break, never to be repaired-forever lost-in just a moment of carelessness or hate. To him it meant she was his existence, she was his life now, and for eternity, it meant she would always be by his side but most of all it meant that she loved him.
"I love you" was what she said. All time and motion stops just to hear her say those words.
What does it mean to you?
