Jakes Birthday Present

Bella handed Jake the little box. It was his birthday, and Bella thought she got him the perfect companion. Edward said it had the same color hair as her, so it would be a friendly reminder ( plus he wouldn't be lonely ), Reneesme had been amused at first, than later offended by her mothers actions.

Jake watched with weary eyes as Bella gave him the holed box. She was bouncing up and down in excitement.

"I had nothing to do with this, by the way, just a little forewarning." Reneesme mumbled bemusedly.

Bella rolled her eyes at her daughters sarcastic comment.

"Wow, Bella. Thanks for the lovely present." He mumbled in confusion.

"Open it already!" Bella screeched. Reneesme took the moment to seize a pillow from the couch and continued to poke eyeholes through to watch the show, Edward leaned back and locked Bella in a deadlock, as to hold her back from the present. Bella continued to jump up and down on the couch, giddy in anticipation. She couldn't wait to see his reaction.

Jake lifted the lid off, and out jumped a small kitten. True, it had the same shade of chocolate fur as always- but it's soft coat was spiked up in fear. Jake stiffened.

"Schh!" the little fur ball hissed. Jakes eyes narrowed infinitely.

"Ha,ha,hahahahahahahahaha" Reneesme laughed heartily from behind the pillow.

"Meow!" it screeched. Bella then thought she heard a low rumble coming from Jakes place on the coach. She looked at him confused.

"Excuse me for a moment, Ness-Bella,Edward" he said gruffly.. Next thing she knew he was leaping from the couch- changing into his wolf form mid leap. Bella gasped.

The cat ran out of the house and into the yard. Jake followed after it.

They chased each other around for a while before the cat ran into a little den- out of Jakes reach. Reneesme ran out after them, choosing to enjoy the view of Jake running around in a circle from the branch of a tree.

Edward joined Bella at the front steps, snickering and muttering something under his breath.

"Well, who would have known Edward was right. Dogs, don't like cats." Bella muttered to herself in amusement, trying not to laugh, too hard.
