Hello! This is Serenity with the revision of the first chapter of "Music of the Sun". I recently re-read this chapter, and I did not like it. My characters were not what I wanted them to be, so this new version is going to be much better. And if I offended anyone by insinuating that people living in Charlotte, North Carolina are violent hicks, I am sorry. I have lived in Charlotte my whole life and most everyone I know actually are not violent at all. So again here is the revised version of "Music of the Sun", read and enjoy! P.S. Reina and Marie are both 17 and Michelle is 19.

Reina Baile Suarez stepped onto the plane. She was moving to Charlotte, North Carolina. Her grandfather had just recently died and his estate in Miami, Florida was sold to some Trump wannabee. Reina sighed a soft, sad sigh and sat down. Closing her eyes and laying her head back on the seat, she let an old memory flood into her mind.

"Grandpa, why is Mami crying?" She asked the old man sitting on the sofa. His soft brown eyes were filled with hurt.

"Your Papi died Reina that is why your Mami is crying." He said as a woman with blond hair sat down beside him and cried into his shoulder. Reina watched, and as she did she saw why everyone was so sad. Her Papi was never coming back and no one would ever see him again. As her Grandpa's words ran through her mind she cried.

Reina had cried at her grandfather's funeral, like she did at her father's and grandmother's. Now she was sitting on a plane, by herself, heading north away from everything she had known her whole life. She was so lost. Her eyes close, but she can still feel the tears rolling down her cheeks. Another sigh, this one leading her into sleep, a sleep filled with tears, sighs, and airplanes.

***********

"Miss. Miss. The plane has landed; it's time for you to get off now." Reina was awakened by a cheery, blonde flight attendant standing over her. She nodded, stood up, grabbed her carry-on, and headed off towards the baggage carousel. When she reached the terminal, she looked around for someone that bore a resemblance to the picture she had of her Aunt June. One woman caught her eye; a brunette standing close to the main door, talking on a cell phone, and sipping a coffee. Reina headed over towards her pulling her two suitcases along.

"Hold on one minute Brian, I think it's her. I'll call you back" Pulling the phone away from her ear, she looks at her. "Are you Reina Baile Suarez?" Reina nods and is immediately enveloped in hug.

"Wow you look very different from when I first saw you. Marie, come over here and meet your cousin!" A girl who looks to be about Reina's age walks over to them. She has reddish-blonde hair and a smirk on her face.

"Hi! I'm Marie. And that's my friend Michelle." She says, pointing to a short bouncing brunette. Michelle skips up to them and shakes Reina's hand.

"Yes, Michelle is going to be spending the night with us tonight. She and Marie have a project to finish. And speaking of that project, don't you need daylight to finish it?" Marie nods. Aunt June throws the car keys to her and winks.

"Come on Reina. We've got to get going. I'll help you get your things." Aunt June picks up one of the suitcases and leads the group to an orange mini-van parked out front. Marie gets in the driver's seat and pulls off.
