Song Fiction:
Creed - Never Die
Authors Notes: Just a little thing I came up with while listening to my Creed CD.
For: Everyone who still thinks they are a kid at heart.
In Rainbow Land all was quiet, until a little ship shaped like a covered wagon hovered into the cheery atmosphere. It's passenger pressed his chubby hands against the looking glass. He watched a little girl decked in gree and a boy in blue play a game of tag.
Hands on a window pane
Watching some children laugh and play
They're running in circles
With candy canes and French braids
Then they stopped. Both of them fell down laughing looking into the sky. "Why do people have to grow up?" The green one asked.
"Well, Patty," the blue one started. "They forget to dream. And then it's gone."
"Their innocence, right, Buddy?" Buddy nodded. "But why? When does it happen?"
Inspired to question
What makes us grown-ups anyway?
Let's search for the moment
When youth betrayed itself to age
"It can be avoided." Buddy said.
"How?" Patty asked.
"Well..." Buddy stopped. How could it be avoided. "If you...no that's not right."
Patty sat up and stared at him. "You don't know, do you?" She asked.
"Well, no."
"Oh, how about if you remember you childhood and you memories?" Patty asked.
"That sounds good. What if we go ask Rainbow?" Buddy suggested. Then the two children stood up and ran to the Color Castle.
So let the children play Inside your heart always
And death you will defy'Cause your youth will never die
"Rainbow, Rainbow." Patty called.
"Hi Patty, what's wrong?" Rainbow asked coming out of her room.
Buddy answered: "Rainbow, why do people grow old?"
"Huh?" Rainbow asked. "People grow old, by forgetting the fun they had as a kid." She said.
"Patty, you were right." Buddy said enthusiastically.
In searching for substance
We're clouded by struggle's haze
Remember the meaning
Of playing out in the rain
Then rainbow's face fell. "But you both know that no Earthling can escape age. Right?"
"What?" The two color kids exclaimed.
Rainbow sighed. "Yes. An old legend told of a fountain of youth. Where people can drink the water and will never age."
"But it's only a legend." A new voice said. A plump man entered the room. He was old looking.
"Who are you?" Rainbow asked.
"I am Plock. I am a trader and a traveler. I was once searching for that Fountain of Youth." The man said. Then he began to cough. He coughed for sometime then a small green sprite brought him a glass of water.
We swim in the fountain
Of youth's timeless maze
If you drink the water
Your youth will never fade
"I'm guessing you didn't find it?" Patty said.
Buddy gave her a look and Plock smiled.
"No, little one, I didn't. I gave up. But I am still young at heart." Plock smiled more.
Buddy looked confused. "Young at heart?"
Rainbow then smiled along with Plock. "He means not in body, but in spirit. He will never age."
Patty and Buddy looked at each other and then. Raced outside.
Never die I won't let go of that youthful soul
Despite body and mind my youth will never die
The End.
Well? What did you think? It was my first try at a songfic, so don't be too upset.
