Cherry Stalks
They sat beside each other, eating cherries. One of them reading a book, the other glancing at the reader.
"Ne Kunimitsu, do you know some people say if one can tie a knot on a cherry stalk, it means that one is a good kisser?"
"No," Tezuka replied taking his attention away from the book, "Why do you ask?"
"Saa, maybe it's because I want to know if you are a good kisser. I tried, but I failed," Fuji smiled innocently while placing a cherry stalk in front of Tezuka's mouth indicating that he wants him to try.
Looking from Fuji to the cherry stalk and repeating the process again, Tezuka finally gave in. With a heavy sigh, he placed his book beside him and opened his mouth.
After a few moments…
"Okay, I'm done." Tezuka reached into his mouth to take the tied stalk out.
"Hmm… I guess you are a better kisser than I am," Fuji pointed out in an upset manner.
Seeing the dejected expression on Fuji's face, Tezuka immediately softened. "But to me, as long as it is you, you are always the best in everything."
"Really?"
Tezuka nodded his head in reply. Then after a few moments of silence, Fuji suddenly chuckle, "Eiji, you lost. Come out now!"
A whine came from outside the door before it was opened. A figure came in.
"Mou… Fujiko-chan! Do you really need me to pay? It's only a small bet."
"Uhmm, you promised."
With a sigh, Eiji took a few scrunched up notes from his pocket and placed on Fuji's hand. Then with another depressed sigh, he walked out of the room with his shoulders slumped down.
Now alone, Tezuka demanded an explanation from Fuji.
"Maa, it was just a bet between him and me, to see if I can make you say something mushy. And of course, I won" Fuji explained, showing the notes.
Hearing this, Tezuka couldn't help but heave a sigh, "I guess seeing you not excellent in something is indeed worth being cheated."
"Hmm, are you sure?" Fuji replied while taking something out from his left pocket and showing it to Tezuka.
With another 'innocent' smile, Fuji left the object on the table before making his way to Tezuka's lips.
There, on the table is a cherry stalk full of knots.
