Quiet Times

I"ve always enjoy the quiet times.

To be able to close my eyes and relax, to sit and feel the calm surround me.

For it to be so quiet that I could actually hear the thumping of my heart.

These times come few and far between.

With work and real life it's something that I've learned to cherish when I get a chance to.

I sit here and look outside at the world waking and sip my tea.

They are right.

Silence is bliss.

I hear the door open and close my eyes.

My silence is about to be interrupted.

"Mommy!"

I put down my cup and wait for the moment my baby jumps into my lap.

"I missed you mommy. Daddy and me went to get you cake".

He leans down and kisses me lightly and murmurs "love you."

I smile at him "Love you more," I whisper back as he takes my cake to the kitchen.

She chatters away and tells me what she's done since I'd been away.

I look up and smile at him.

He's watching.

I see his smile and I know I'm home.

Silence is golden but hearing my daughter chatter away is more precious then gold.
