A/N: So not the welcoming I wanted with the last fic who knows what happened or really cares, this is the second last one but the next one will have another bout of Nick and Katie in it. You'll see why. So ya the series is done with the next installment. Oh there's two titles in this one because the first one is from Sara's series and the other one is from Greg's. Meaning I don't own Anberlin's Amsterdam, or Fall Out Boy's – I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Named After Me. Enjoy
This Is Our Last Goodbye
--
The fog rolled in quietly making ordinary objects become hidden in the blink of an eye, it was a perfect escape as a woman placed her last suitcase into her car. One look back towards her apartment she got in without hesitation. She would be missed and miss this place maybe more than she was willing to admit.
The doubts started as she saw the sign 'You're now leaving Las Vegas, come back again soon!' the words held little meaning. She wouldn't be coming back. The desert stretched on and on she had nothing but time on her hands now.
Grissom would see her letter of resignation and if he didn't except it, Ecklie would another copy lay on his desk as well. All she ever wanted to do was solve crimes maybe eventually find love and have children, never did in a million years would she ever thing she would be 37, tired of a job she once loved and a guy who had fucked her over good and she kept coming back for more because she didn't know any better.
There would be calls asking where she was and when she would be coming in, the calls would be ignored for at least a couple days because really she didn't want to answer them anyways. Maybe just maybe she would answer one if the right person called but maybe the desert would become a rich vegetation source.
Not having a destination in mind she continued on the road ignoring all the side streets that came fewer and fewer as she kept driving. Stopping at lunch time for gas and to get something that resembled food she looked around she was in the middle of nowhere and this is where the horror movie would begin.
Only she was in a movie herself and her life been turned upside down and shaken to the core twice and finally she was doing something about it. Smiling politely at the bored clerk as she picked up a couple of water bottles and a bag of chips and cookies she paid the clerk and was on her way again.
Find A Safe Place, Brace Yourself, Bite Your Lips
He turned over ready to bring her closer, this was the one time he could finally let his guard down when he was sleeping and pretend that the woman beside him actually hated him and loved him nor that he had royally messed up a good relationship all for revenge.
Not to mention he could kiss whatever relationship he did have with Becky goodbye because he was pretty sure that if he left with a woman that wasn't her, it was deemed over. Oh well he wasn't even that interested.
When he reached over he found nothing but a pillow and sheets, opening his eyes immediately looking around for her he knew something was up. His apartment was eerily quiet.
"Sara?" he waited but all that answered was silence, throwing the covers off he made the few steps to the kitchen to find no one but on his kitchen table he found a white card, prolly one of the many white cue cards he had lying around here. Blinking a few times to read the note it probably said she was going to get coffee or breakfast.
His eyes focusing he read and re-read the seven words that were written neatly across the card.
I just wanted you to love meIn the pit of his stomach he knew she was gone and wasn't coming back.
