This was something she'd known her whole life and her parents had always assured her that it was okay, that it was nothing for her to get concerned over, it could show up later in life. But now she knew that wasn't true because Soul marks were a human thing and Laurel was decidedly not human.

It had filled her with a strange sense of relief to know that there wasn't anything wrong with her, or that her Soulmate wasn't dead as she had suspected since she was young. Tamani had explained that fae still had Soulmates, they merely found them in a different way although he refused to tell her what that way was.

Still, when she saw David's mark she was shocked because what else could the small picture of a fairy on his back, exactly where Laurel's blossom now sat on her own, mean?

There was no way for her to know that the placement was a coincidence; that it merely echoed the placement of a microscope picture on her best friend's back. There was no way for her to know that the only reason she could see the blue of David's eyes and the pink of the flowers in her garden is because her eyes had connected with Tamani's only days after she had sprouted. There was no way to know that she was chasing the wrong guy when every sign she knew of pointed to him.

All she knew was that, although she had no mark, David's seemed to be just for her.
