Disclaimer: I don't own KHR
A/N: This is so pointless. And a day late. But since I have an exam tomorrow and I'll do anything else except study… thought I might as well post this.
It was just one of those odd days Gokudera was feeling annoyed for a reason. Most days, he didn't need one. But thanks to Bianchi reminding him in the morning, now he knew it was mothers' day and he couldn't go visit her grave which, in turn, was the cause of a little heartache dwelling inside which, in turn, was the reason he was furious. And when Gokudera got angry, he needed something to vent it out on. Which is when he found himself lurching in Tsuna's backyard waiting for the stupid cow to trigger him off.
But today wasn't just another day. Juudaime's mother seemed to be humming to herself as she busied herself in kitchen. But when Lambo came into the kitchen yawning wide, he did not go up to the oven first thing to look at what was cooking as he always did but jumped over onto Nana's back and hugged her from behind, interrupting her humming as she smiled in surprise.
"What happened, Lambo-kun?" she stroked his impossible hair gently.
"Mama, happy mother's day," Lambo said between a yawn as he searched in his hair and produced his most treasured, brightest lollipop candy ever which he offered to her innocently. The same candy he threw tantrums for if someone so much as touched it.
"Ara, thank you, Lambo-kun," she kissed him softly as she took the candy.
It would, of course, go back into the reserved box she kept for him. But the gesture as it was, touched her enough to shock her out of her oblivious humming for a whole day.
Just for today, Gokudera decided as he peeked from the kitchen window, he could let the stupid cow go and not take out his frustration on him. For no matter however stupid he was, and did not understand a thing, he knew the meaning of mama clearly.
It was quite a surprise for Nana though, to find the hall decorated and everyone waiting for her with a cake when she returned from her grocery shopping.
Gokudera decided it wasn't all that bad if he couldn't visit his mother's grave this once.
