Goodnight Snuffy
A/N: Hey guys, it feels like a long time since I've done plain old oneshots, so here it is. Derek/Pen my favourite crazy couple. Not in reference to any episode in particular. ENJOY R&R PLZ!
It had to be well after two in the morning but Derek was too tired to look down at his watch. The team had wrapped a case in Denver earlier but weather conditions caused their flight to be delayed. Finally home, the team didn't stick around, to hell with the paperwork, heading straight for their houses and more importantly beds. As for himself, Derek wearily approached his apartment door, key at the ready, and slid it into the lock easily. He tried to be quiet but of course Clooney woke up as the door opened. Thankfully he must have recognized Derek's scent and just put his head back down silently although his eyes did have something to them like he was thinking 'why must you disturb me'. Regardless he was sleeping again in an instant without even a welcoming lick. "Hey to you too Clooney,"Derek mumbled tossing his keys on the counter. The place was dark and quiet except for the light coming from his room. Derek toed off his shoes, ditched his go bag near the couch, and quietly padded down the hall to his bedroom where Penny had already fallen asleep. Pausing by the door, he saw the lamp was still on which meant she had been waiting up for him before nodding off. He also noticed she had 'borrowed' one of his t-shirts yet again and the whole scene just felt like he was home at last. He didn't even bother with changing, just stripping down to his boxers and getting into bed. As always, the moment he got in, Penny turned, draping herself across him and pulled the covers over them. They took just a second to adjust so both of them were comfortable. Derek stroked Penelope's hair, "Hey mama."
"Hey papa," Penelope Garcia murmured sleepily, eyes shut. "How was it?"
"Bearable," Derek sighed rubbing her back.
"Mmmm it's good to have you home," she continued in her sleep voice. She tightened her hold him for a second. "Mama missed you."
"Really?" Derek smirked. "How much?" He suggestively dragged a hand along the leg laying over his.
Garcia chuckled throatily, "How about I show you when I'm awake in the morning?"
"You seem plenty awake to me," Derek teased.
"M'not," she denied keeping the sleepy tone and her eyes closed. "I'm sleep-talking to you."
He knew he shouldn't ask but sometimes it was involuntary, "Sleep-talking?"
"Mhm," she hummed. "I'm still sorta dreaming so my mind is just channeling your voice through Snuffleupagus right now. Gotta say, I never thought such a smooth voice could work for him."
And that's why he normally didn't ask. Derek couldn't help but laugh, "Snuffleupagus? Why are you dreaming about him? Is there something I should know about you two?"
Garcia grinned but she refused to open her eyes, "You think I'd trade you for a hairy elephant? Cute as he is, I think I'll stick with what I got."
Derek shook his head fondly and brought her closer. "Still doesn't explain why he's in your dreams babygirl."
"I went on a Sesame Street binge today, must've have watched at least ten episodes. Just be glad I'm not channeling my inner Count right now."
Yup this was what pillow talk looked like with Penelope Garcia. Only Penelope, Derek rolled his eyes, "You know I love you right?"
"I love you too," she dropped a kiss on his chest.
"Goodnight silly girl," Derek kissed her head and turned off the light.
Penelope strained up to peck his nose, "Goodnight Snuffy."
