She stood there for what seemed like hours. She was still staring at that silly white stick in her hands.
Two lines. I just don't believe it. Two lines, I'm pregnant. After all this time, I'm sure it was bound to happen sooner or later. You couldn't dodge the bullet forever, Penny.
She began to wonder how Leonard would take the news. Of course, he would be thrilled. He would also get carried away and want to move up the wedding as soon as possible. He would probably want to check out colleges and go house hunting and buying baby furniture... all right away. That was one of the reasons Penny loved Leonard so much. He was so passionate about everything he loved. It was the reason why he would dress up as his favorite characters during television Marathons or Comicon or even Star Trek Conventions. He was so smart too, even smarter than Sheldon, or so she thought. At least Leonard could realize when something just wasn't working right and change his approach to it.
She knew Leonard would be an excellent father. Leonard didn't have a very good childhood, according to the little bit Leonard had ever told her. The last thing he ever wanted was to be like his parents. His mother, who dabbled in Child Psychology, had always used Leonard like a little lab rat when it came to her scientific articles and many humiliating childhood exploits, at Leonard's expense, had been included in her bestseller "Needy Baby, Greedy Baby".
Penny thought about her own family. How would they take the news? Her family were not saints by any stretch of the imagine, but it seemed that they just always expected Penny to find trouble wherever she went. The day she had called her mother to tell her she was engaged, she had to practically convince her mother that she wasn't pregnant.
So much for that, she thought. I'm just nothing but a tramp, I guess. The Omaha-Pasadena Tramp.
She could no longer bear the way she was putting herself down. She looked at herself in the mirror, took a deep breath and told herself, "Penny, you are not a tramp. You are a woman in love with a super great guy. Your love has created a child, and you will be a wonderful mother." A new excitement filled Penny, and now she couldn't wait to tell everyone. She knew her friends would be happy for her at least. She picked up the phone to call Amy or Bernadette, but then laid it back down. Leonard had to know first, above all else. She knew one thing he would say for sure, "Our baby will be smart and beautiful." This made her smile and gave her the courage to make her way across the hall.
She knocked, and Leonard opened the door and greeted her with a kiss. She forged ahead. "Sit down Leonard, boy do I have some news for you."
The End
