Black Cotton & Tattered Silk
By:JK
Wet sorrow falls from her eyes
As liquid life spills on the ground
The sharp glint of Kunii in the moonlight.
Black Cotton moves soundly through the dense forest.
Her legs no longer can withstand
The brutal speed she needs
The soft ground yields under her
Mud and rain begin to soak through her tattered excuse for kimono
Black Cotton is winding through the brush and trained eyes are searching
Mud makes it hard to move and it clings to Tattered Silk in a deathly vice
Running, near impossible but Tattered Silk manages
Black Cotton spots its prey and like an hawk
Swoops down to capture the rat
Black Cotton lands atop Tattered Silk
Pain radiates from Tattered Silk's shoulder
And the mud somewhat softens the blow to her face as she collides with the earth
The sparkle of cold iron, the slash of pliable flesh
Tattered Silk
Lies lifeless
And Black Cotton only smiles
Tossing into the mud parchment which is slowly becoming transparent
From the steady fall of rain
Ink colliding with mud
Merging and mingling making the words unreadable
What it said
Only known by three
Sensei
Tattered Silk
And
Me.
