Sakura stepped lightly into her room, still nimble for all her years. She paused at the bookcase and picked up the framed pictures of her family. She sighed as she traced the face of her husband, gone ten years. She smiled gently to the smiling faces of her children. The next picture was of her children's children. They were trying on their first kunai holders. Next to that was an image of them standing proud as adult ninja. The last picture was new; she could practically hear her youngest great-grandson gurgle as she looked at him. These pictures she placed gently on her desk. From deep inside her closet, Sakura fumbled with a large box and withdrew something from inside. She slowly moved to her desk, where she added the ancient picture from her genin days. She traced their faces once more.

Kakashi was long gone, dying quietly in his sleep. He had still been holding the latest copy of Icha Icha Paradise.

Naruto became Hokage, and the village did well under his leadership. One day, many years later when a new Hokage ruled, Naruto abruptly disappeared. He at least left a note entailing that he had to go and to not worry about him. Some said he left to save Konoha on some secret mission, others said he left because he was still a wild spirit deep inside. Sakura knew he left because he felt it was time to fulfill a promise made long ago.

Months later there was an incredible chakra surge felt all over the land. When investigated, a large crater was found. In its center, a legendary pair of battered warriors lay, looking contented. Sakura had smiled while crying when she heard they had been holding hands.

They were both laid to rest in Konoha.

Sakura herself had become a magnificent koniochi, the right hand woman of the Hokage. Later in life she retired from being ninja to work exclusively with the hospital. Finally abdicating that work, she basked in the privileges granted by old age.

Today she knew that she was no longer needed in Konoha.

She laid on her bed in the sunshine and sighed a big contented sigh. When she looked towards the door, she wasn't surprised to find her old teammates looking in on her.

"Oi Sakura! C'mon let's go!" yelled a loud childish Naruto, flailing in her doorway.

"What kept you? Did you get lost on the road of life?" said a cynical, yet smiling, Sasuke. The handsome adolescent was lounging on the wall, looking freer than she had ever seen him.

"Coming!" shouted a young pink haired girl as she bounced off the bed.

Without a second thought, she grabbed their hands and led them away. The three walked off together, like it was supposed to be. What did it matter they had had to wait a little for it to happen?

"Dobe."

"Teme!"

"Super Dobe!"

"Stupid Teme!!"

"SHANNARO!"
