Disclaimer- I don't own Negima

This is my first Negima fanfiction, so I hope you like it! It's about Mana and Zazie, and it's just some random thing I thought of today. Not a slash.

Mana Tatsumia was polishing her gun. This was no surprise, as Mana was an expert sniper. But somehow, it felt different today as she looked down at her classmates. Most of them were normal teenagers, (with the exception of Setsuna and Evangeline and Chachamaru and Konoka and Kaede and half the other girls…), but she was different. They were all carefree and happy and she was just plain different.

She didn't feel like a teenage girl. She felt like an elder or something. What teenage girl was a sniper and a shrine maiden? Not normal ones. Different ones.

Mana sighed deeply. She'd seen too much. She'd been too young when she'd made that Pactio.

Now she was paying for it, paying for it in the form of her childhood.

She sighed. God, she needed to lay off the clichés.

"Are you ok?"

It was Zazie Rainyday. Mana raised her eyebrows. Now this was surprising. Mana couldn't recall Zazie ever saying a word before, much less to Mana, who could win an award for being antisocial.

Zazie looked at her, and Mana realized that she was waiting for an answer. Not one to waste her words, this one.

"I'm fine."

Zazie sat down next to her.

"Are you really?"

Mana thought about it. Was she?

"Yes." she said, choosing her words carefully. "It's just…I'm different."

Zazie glanced at her. "In what way?"

Mana looked at her laughing classmates. "I'm older…or at least that's how it feels…I've seen more…"

Zazie gave a small laugh. "You've seen about the same amount as Negi and far less than Evangeline."

Mana narrowed her eyes. "They're different."

Zazie raised her eyebrows. "So they're different. And you don't feel like you belong because you're different than their different?"

Mana shrugged. "You make it sound stupid."

"It is what it is."

Zazie got up and left Mana to think. Was she different because she made it so? Could she be like them, all carefree and happy? Mana gave a slight smile. Maybe she could be a little less bearing, but there's no changing someone's entire personality. She was different, Mana realized, but not different in a bad way.
