Okami Amaterasu had never seen the Celestial Plain look more beautiful. Green grass swayed in the soft wind, and her soft, silky dress pressed lightly against her skin. The Celestial Plain was her true home, and the place where she could reveal her true form, one the humans in the mortal world had never seen before in their existence as a species. Her son, Chibiterasu, had defeated the darkness that had controlled Orochi, and, the so called Lord of Darkness, Yami. The land of Nippon was at peace, for what Amaterasu had hoped would be forever. She liked to be able to be in her godly form, which resembled, or, rather, was a human woman with flowing black hair and features no mortal had, or would, ever see. It was getting tiresome to be stuck in her wolf form, and she was glad most of the Celestials had been reborn after the defeat of Akuro in Nippon. The Celestials had celebrated, with wine and good food, and Amaterasu had to admit even she did not remember what had happened. That was one of the only times she had touched sake since she had been in the mortal realm, trying to stop Orochi, and Yami, from shrouding Nippon in darkness. She missed her friend Issun, who had stayed with her through all of her journey, and had even helped her son find a partner when he was brought to Earth. Despite his faults and oddities, he was a good companion and friend. Looking at the humans going around, doing their business, and trying to get things done before the sun set, she had a feeling of peace and tranquility. It would not last.
Amaterasu heard shrieks coming from the Celestial River, and started to run, her hearts beat becoming faster and faster as she drew closer to the River. She turned, and saw a cloud of darkness engulfing a group of winged Celestials. She pulled out the sword she had gotten when she was on her journey in Nippon, and her reflector, Solar Flare gleamed in her right hand. The Tundra Beads shined in the setting sun, making her neck glow a soft blue. Her son, Chibiterasu, was beside her, and pulled out his equivalent to her weapons. They charged the cloud, and the next thing Amaterasu knew, she was cold and frozen, the darkness seeping the life out of her body. But her Divine Instruments would not let that happen. Solar Flare flashed, and a burst of flame shot out of the rainbow coloured surface. Thunder Edge crackled with electricity, and she was ready to use the freezing powers of the Tundra Beads to defeat her enemies. She swung the sword in an arc, the golden-yellow sword gleaming in the setting sun. She brought it down on the cloud, and it disappeared, leaving five unhurt Celestials." That was odd. Why would it work its way up to our realm, and then do nothing to hurt us?" Amaterasu sheathed her weapons, and Chibiterasu did the same. She looked at her son. He shrugged, but in the middle of his shoulders going up, he dived to his mother, yelling. The Celestials gasped, and Amaterasu was in the wrong position to see the cloud of darkness hit her body with the force of a truck. She felt her life leave her body, and her last thought was to pray for her son to be okay.
