Two Voices, Heard at Night in Cage #6
Gendo to Unit-01:
You stand on guard:
Not hard, the land
Is safe from harm
The charm we made
Shall fade but then
The end will make
Us break away.
That day your work will buy
For you and I—
I hope it's true, it sounds so
nice!—
A share of paradise.
Yui's response:
I feel no need to
Feed; with steel
They bound me well
In Hell I wait
With hate I fight
At night despite my age
A rage wells up inside:
So wide my wrath
That this, my bath—
For Angel's blood flows sweet
and hot—
Should be so dearly bought.

Author's Notes: Gendo's
piece was mostly an accident. Yui's was just for fun, a
challenge to see whether I could come up with something that
followed the same pattern as the first. I like how they turned
out, though, except where the meter jumps a little in the middle
of each.
This is my first real attempt at
poetry in a long time, so I doubt they're very good. Hope you
enjoy them anyway.
