"Rose, you are the most selfish, obnoxious person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting!" Scorpius Malfoy spat at her, his eyes a blazing fury.
"Oh, like you're a bundle of joy! You're too busy examining yourself in the mirror to pay attention to anything but your reflection. You're such a prick, Malfoy. Get over it." With that she stalked off, leaving Scorpius utterly bewildered. He and Rose…well, they had a complicated relationship. Some days, they were best friends, romping around the grounds, laughing about this and that. Other days…they were head to head in an ongoing battle about their latest argument.
But it had never been this bad. They hadn't had a discussion in which they did not end up shouting in weeks. He was sick of it. He hadn't really meant those things he said to her. Hell, no! Scorpius had trouble admitting it, even to himself, but he had feelings for one Rose Weasley. Perhaps he had gone too far.
Intending to apologize to her, he walked up the long and winding corridor to the Gryffindor Tower. In his mind, he imagined what he would say. Hello, Rose. I'm sorry I said I hated you. Also called you obnoxious and selfish. And shoved you. Actually, I love you. Let's get dinner. As if. He recited the password to the Tower, which Rose had taught him, as he was a Ravenclaw, and walked inside.
He could see Rose sitting on one of the large and cushiony sofas near the fireplace. She seemed to be alone in the Commons. He made his way over to her.
"Hey, Rose, listen,-" But he then tripped over his untied shoelace and landed, to his horror, with his lips smashed against hers. At that precise moment, Albus Potter walked in on them. Scorpius hurried to stand up, but he just ended up making a stupid flapping motion with his arms as he struggled to find a grip on something.
"What the hell?" Albus asked as he backed away quickly. Scorpius managed to catch his balance and took a step back. He looked down at Rose, who was gaping at him.
"Whoa, Scorp." She laughed. "Moving a little fast, aren't we?" Scorpius, horrified, turned and ran from the room. He sprinted down the steps and out to the grounds, where he finally stopped, panting. He couldn't speak. He couldn't even think. Everything was a blur. He kissed Rose Weasley. Sure, he had wanted to for a long time, but not like that! Not to mention Albus. He was sure to have told the entire school by now.
Scorpius felt a tap on his shoulder. He swiveled around to find Rose, her curly red hair being blown with the wind.
"Rose, I really…I mean…" She raised her finger to to silence him.
"It doesn't matter, Scorp. Hopefully you'll get better with practice."
"Wha-" But she was kissing him, really kissing him, and he kissed her back, savoring every moment of it. Finally she pulled away. She took his hand in hers, and they walked back to the castle, together.
