chapter 1—The Dream
Bella POV
It was dark out as the car was driving through the pounding rain. I looked to my left to see my mother clenched the steering wheel with watery eyes threatening to spill over.
"Mommy what's wrong?" I asked
"nothing, sweetie" she sniffled
"why do you look so sad?" I wondered out loud
"mommy's just thinking about some things, ok?"
"ok." I became quiet and started playing with my doll
my mother sighed "honey, I know you want to know some things especially about your father, but I just don't think your quite old enough yet. But I will do this, when you turn seven I'll answer seven questions you have about your father."
"any question?"
"yes."
"can I ask one early right now?"
"sure"
"what is his name?"
"Charlie Swan."
"Charlie…." I mumbled to myself.
just then we started driving after a stop sign. HONK HONK HONK!! We both look to our left to see a pair of headlights coming towards us from the side.
CRAASSHHH!
I sat up quickly. lightning flashed and thunder boomed. I looked around dazed and realized tears were running down my face and I was in my room. I got up to go get a glass of water. as I walked into the living room I saw Alice snuggled up with Jasper fast asleep on the couch with the TV still buzzing noisily.
I walked in the kitchen grabbed a glass and pressed it against the handle on the freezer door to get ice. it must have woken Alice up because she walked in the next minute.
"what's all the racket f-"she stopped in the middle of her sentence and rushed over to me at the sight of my red, puffy eyes. "oh, Bella, honey what's wrong?"
"I had the dream again."
"oh, well do you want to talk about it?"
"no, I'm okay I'm just gonna go back to bed, and get some rest for the big day tomorrow." I put on the best fake smile I could muster, but she saw through it and looked at me disapprovingly. "Bella, stop looking so crushed you should be happy. I mean you're going on vacation to Vegas with your wonderful best friend! and some others," she added grudgingly. I laughed at that. Alice didn't want her older brother Emmett to come with us, but I didn't mind the least I loved Emmett he was like a big teddy bear. at least Rose and Jasper were coming too. that cheered her up.
"goodnight, Alice." I said as I turned around to go back to my room.
"night, Bella! oh and another thing to be happy about... don't forget the surprise waiting for you in Vegas that I mentioned earlier." she bounced off to go back to the couch with jasper. I rolled my eyes. That was one of the reasons I loved Alice I could feel horrible one minute and the next I could be laughing at her. she truly was the best friend a person could ever ask for.
I walked back in my room and scooted under the covers. I closed my eyes and drifted back to sleep.
