ExT. The roof of Bard's cabin

KILI is sitting on the roof, looking on the lonely mountain.

He doesn't hear TAURIEL sneaking behind him. She's lowering herself to his height.

TAURIEL

(whispers to his ear)

They will be alright.

KILI

(jumps)

If I had my axe, you would be dead.

TAURIEL

I stood behind you for almost five minutes.

KILI

You are just lucky.

TAURIEL

Do you mind?

(points next to him)

Kili smiles and nodes. Tauriel sits down next to him.

KILI

I believe I owe you something.

TAURIEL

What?

KILI

My life.

TAURIEL

No, you...

KILI

(stand up - finally a little taller than her)

One day, the great elf Tauriel, I will return you this favour. I swear on the gold mines of Moria.

TAURIEL

If you want to impress an elf, don't mention Moria.

KILI

You are mocking my oath!

TAURIEL

Just a little bit.

KILI

Tauriel.

TAURIEL

Yes?

KILI

I believe I owe you one more thing.

TAURIEL

Please do not swear on Moria again.

KILI

Tauriel.

(serious look)

KILI (CONT'D)

I might have said something, while my fever was up and I thought... I did not mean to...

TAURIEL

You didn't mean?

KILI

I meant every single word. I just didn't mean to make you hear them.

TAURIEL

If only I had the same excuse...

KILI

(didn't hear)

And for that I owe you an apology. It was inappropriate of me to say that, no matter... No matter what.

TAURIEL

(smiling)

Kili -

KILI

That is the first time...

TAURIEL

What?

KILI

That is the first time you said my name.

TAURIEL

I was afraid that if I say it, I would say a lot more.

KILI

More?

TAURIEL

We do not get involve.

TAURIEL (CONT'D)

We, elves. We should never show-

KILI

(leaning forward)

I see you.

TAURIEL

I know, and that scares me.

KILI

I don't see an elf, I see you.

TAURIEL

When I thought you are... I couldn't...

(tear running down her cheek. She doesn't sob, just one tear gets out)

KILI

I am here now.

He wipes her tear with his thumb, gets even closer.

KILI (CONT'D)

(whispers)

Close you eyes.

She does, and he leans over and kisses her, his right her holding her face in place and he other he places on her hand. They kiss for very long, not willing to let go. They part when Tauriel's tears start flowing.

KILI (CONT'D)

Am I such a bad kisser?

TAURIEL

(cry-laughing)

I am still armed and more dangerous than you.

KILI

I highly doubt it.

TAURIEL

You're weaponless.

KILI

I can always kiss you again. Seems like a great weapon.

She wipes her tears, but he grabs her hands and moves them away from her face to her sides. While holding he kisses her again, softer this time. Even when they're parted his face is still inches from hers.

KILI (CONT'D)

(whispers)

Don't hide your tears.

Now she start sobbing, very quitley.

TAURIEL

I thought - I was sure you are going to die.

KILI

And I thought the beautiful elf could never love me. Luckily, we're both wrong.

Kili sits down and Tauriel rests her head on his knees. He strokes her hair while she calms down.

TAURIEL

(mumbles)

At least you kiss better than you fight.

KILI

I heard that!

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Those who survived this ficlet even though it's in a script format, well done.

Those who know how a script should actually look - that what happens when you try to upload something you wrote with Final Draft.

And thank you Peter Jackson, for inventing an unnecessary female character so we could have at least one ship that is canon.
