A/N: I was on a cruise and I was very bored. So I wrote a pony story in my notebook. I wrote this before Season 4, so its obviously not canon.
On a dark and cold night, a very long time ago (One thousand years to be exact) a young alicorn sat atop a balcony.
Her light azure mane flew freely in the gentle breezes, and her disapproving frown iced her pretty and delicate face. Muttering softly to herself, she turned and trotted into her sleeping quarters, only looking back to shut the drapes.
Things hadn't been too well for the young princess lately.
Her sister had banished her to her chambers after she rudely disrupted an important dinner, after earning a hard scolding; she brought out the moon and stars before retiring for the night.
"Why…" She whispered with a sorrowful look on her face. "I just wanted… Some attention!" Luna cried angrily. "I may have just brought out the night but it's not like anypony cares!" She shouted, her voice strained by the sudden tears rolling down her cheek and off her muzzle.
"Yes Luna," A sinister voice murmured in the back of her mind.
"Nopony has, will, or ever did care about the night, Luna…" It whispered in her ear as she willed herself not to succumb to its persuasion.
"After all… The sun is nice and warm and bright…" "Why shouldn't ponies enjoy it?" It crept towards her mental wall once more.
"But your night is unforgiving and cold and dark." "NO!" Luna shouted angrily, trying to force the demon away.
"Yes..." It whispered faintly. "No… You're wrong!" She cried, almost pleading for the voice to leave her thoughts be.
Luna's coat had started to change as it merged into a shade as black as midnight. Soon dark shadows erupted around the room engulfing her completely.
As they retreated, a small blue alicorn filly was no more.
In her place stood a tall and deviously elegant dark mare in full regalia. "Well…" She purred in an unnaturally smooth voice.
"I suppose that if the sun is fighting for the spotlight…" She paused then turned towards the door. "She must have a worthy opponent…"
The Dark Mare let out a purely evil cackling crackle of laughter before vanishing in a huff of purple smoke, which soaked through the walls, heading in the direction of the regal Sun Princess.
A/N: Yup. Just a short little drabbly piece. :)
