Chapter 1: Trick is to Keep Breathing -- Spinelli
Author's Note: I've seen a few authors do these so I thought I'd indulge in one to stir my creativity while writing The Luckiest. If you have not read that story, you might not understand what some of these mean. The objective is to limit you to only one sentence in an attempt to practice structuring. This is my first one ever; I hope to get better at it. Anyways, enjoy!
1. Sex
Right there, and again.
2. Mistake
A few more motions like that and he forgot he hated her.
3. Gold Hoop
Six months had passed and she still had no idea he was keeping it in his sock drawer.
4. Protection
He hadn't even thought about it.
5. Sorry
He wasn't going to apologize either, because he honestly didn't regret it.
6. Patrick's Anger
As bad off as their situation was, Spinelli was glad Maxie hadn't kept it from him.
7. Georgie's Taste
As Maxie put the headphone to his ear, Spinelli regretted not knowing his friend better.
8. Wrinkled
He'd seen it a thousand times that day, but Spinelli couldn't help but pull the ultrasound out of his pocket one more time.
9. Mother's Day
She wasn't his mother, but was he supposed to get her a gift anyways?
10. Blue Eyes
If she looked at him like that one more time, he'd tell her.
11. One More Time
He held his tongue.
12. Words
When he told her that she looked enigmatic and a sight to be revered for eternity as a model of poised pregnancy, he really just meant that he was falling desperately in love with her.
13. Time
He liked being in her company…when had that happened?
14. Immature
Maxie passed him the popcorn and kindly informed him he was a big baby for cringing during the childbirth documentary.
15. Bookmarks
A folder had been created for what to expect when expecting, right under the one he'd made for Maxie's gossip sites.
16. Debate
"The Jackal finds your logic faulty," Spinelli harrumphed as Maxie opened his last bottle of soda and explained to him why her cravings were more important than his.
17. Dread
He tried not to panic when she didn't answer her phone, and that's when he realized the level of his investment.
18. Sound Effects
Looking back, Spinelli realized there had been a lot of squeaking on that staircase the night he told Jason he loved her.
19. Shot
Oh it hurt, but not as much as realizing his baby wasn't going to know who he was.
20. Eyes Overhead
Everything was white, except her blue.
