I own neither Naruto nor affiliated characters
(it's Sasuke and Sakura being mentioned in this poem, I just don't like the way there names sound in such a piece of literature as this)

Loving him was one of the worst things she could have ever done. To open herself up to him, subject herself to that kind of torture was stupid on her part. He was cold, unfeeling. She knew what she was getting into from the start. She knew he would love neither her nor anyone else. She would be ripped apart at the seams.
Somehow, it didn't matter at the time. But, oh, how it mattered now.
The pain was too much to bear. She knew when those obsidian eyes fell upon her that he felt nothing, and that he never will. She knew this perfectly well. She could tell in the way he spoke to her, the way his expression never changed when she was around. It hurt, but she let herself fall for him anyway.
Somehow, it didn't matter at the time, but, oh, how it mattered now.
There were many other people she could have chosen to love, many other nice young men around, but it all came down to him. Maybe she knew the pain he held in his heart, the hatred that tore at his soul, leaving him a heartless shell of a man. Maybe she knew all of this, and wanted to help with the kindness held in her heart. But she knew. Knew there was nothing she could do. His heart was hell-bent on revenge.
Somehow, it didn't matter at the time, but, oh, how it mattered now.
And there was nothing she could do but try to pick up the pieces of her broken heart, try to live again. She could try to move on and forget about him. He abandoned all of them, left them to cry alone. They wanted him to come back, return to his old self. But she always knew it would never happen. There was no hope.
Somehow, it didn't matter at the time, but, oh, how it mattered now.
