"Give a dragon food, it will eat for a day. Teach a dragon how to hunt, it will eat forever." Old Novan Proverb. Velderoth wanted Tear to be strong in case he and Kyle couldn't be there for her. – Velderoth/Tear.
A crowd of children with the sound of laughter drifting from amongst their midst. A sign of joy to most, it signified that the future generations were content and creating a strong, solid mindset.
For Velderoth it meant that his friend was in trouble because the Novan children liked to pick on those that were different from them. "Hey," he called, running down the hill as fast as he could. "Hey!"
A few of the children turned and froze before hastily beginning to whisper. He was too far away to hear just exactly what they were saying, but he knew the words that passed by their lips. Velderoth. Velderoth is here.
They began to run away, splitting apart by twos and threes in different directions. By the time he got to where the group of kids had been standing there was only one child left. Orange hair, worn clothes and the lack of a tail that was the constant source of her anguish, his friend Tear was sitting on the ground, hastily wiping away the wet tracks on her face in an attempt to pretend that she hadn't been crying again.
Kyle was away, running an errand for Fenelle. If he had been here, he would have offered her some assistance in wiping away her tears before giving her comforting words.
Kyle wasn't here. Velderoth didn't do comforting words.
"You idiot!" he yelled. "I told you to fight back if they ever bothered you!"
Even more tears ran down his friend's face and Velderoth felt his irritation flicker away. "I-I'm sorry," she hiccoughed.
This was the fourth time she hadn't been able to fight back. He'd already taught her everything he knew about fighting and defending herself and he didn't see anything else he could do to make her hit back.
Tear, the hopeless case.
"C'mon," he said grudgingly, taking her hand. "I found a pretty rock you might like."
Her face brightened a bit at that.
I was gonna do one at the end that talked about something like "You can only lead a horse to water", but couldn't make it fit. Oh, well.
For some reason, I really like this pairing. Like, it may surpass Kaiser x AB.
