Disclaimer: Don't own Ambrose don't own Monk

Adrian could tell his brother was excited.
"Tell me what's going on," he said putting an arm around his brother"
"I did it Adrian," Ambrose said excitedly, "I kissed a girl I liked"
"Hey good for you," Adrian said smiling, "who was the girl"
"Oh… just some girl"
"Ambrose?"
"Look, Adrian I've been a loser my whole life. Every time I tried to do something I always chocked."

Adrian could handle a lot but he would not tolerate his brother putting himself down.
"AMBROSE," he yelled to get his attention, "don't you EVER call yourself a loser again. You are the best person I know"
Ambrose didn't say anything.
"Ambrose I'm serious"
"I've always felt like a loser," Ambrose atoned, "I always chocked whenever I tried something"
"That happens," Adrian said

"Yeah I know," Ambrose replied, "but that's not the point. The point is that for a minute I decided that I wasn't going to be a loser anymore. I wasn't going to allow myself to be a loser anymore. It wasn't fair. When I kissed her, for one brief moment I felt like I was a winner. I felt like I was no longer that loser that I've always been. She understood that too."

Adrian didn't say anything for a minute. Then he spoke… looking his brother directly in the eye.
"The only thing that bothers me about that is you said for one brief moment you didn't feel like you were a loser. Ambrose you were never and could never be a loser"
"I have been though"
"Ambrose who was the guy that managed to get out of his house when you had to even though he was afraid"
"Me?"
"Who was the person who did what he had to do and put himself at risk in doing it?"
"Me?"
"And who was the person that encouraged me when I was younger even, put aside his own needs and his own wants for the needs and wants of his little brother"
"Me?"
"Yes. You. Ambrose a person who does that is NOT a loser. A loser would never do all those things"
"Okay so maybe I'm not a loser," Ambrose admitted, "but for one brief moment I felt like a winner"

"Ambrose you've always been a winner"
"Not like you," Ambrose said softly, "for one brief moment I was like you"
Adrian stared at his brother for a second and then a grin broke out on his face.
"What was it like," he asked, "for you what was it like?"
"It was amazing," he told him, "not so much because of that though that was also amazing but for a brief moment I was a winner"
The two brothers hugged and then Adrian said one last thing.

"You have always been a winner, you have never been a loser but you need to be proud to be you. Because I'm damn proud you're my brother"
