Do I own Yu-Gi-Oh GX? Most definitely not!

There he sat. The Slifer slacker was, as per usual, sitting with his head down, sleeping.

Johan's heart skipped a beat. Could he do it? Did he have the nerve to ask? The bell rang and it was now or never.

Judai stood and gave a quick stretch. He walked lazily towards the door, rubbing his eyes. "Oh, hey Johan," He greeted his friend. The tired features from only a moment before fading, now replaced with a grin.

"H-hi, Judai-Kun," Johan answered. His knees buckled and his palms grew sweaty. HE wasn't going to be able to ask after all, it seemed.

Judai raised his eyebrow and cocked his head to one side. "Somethin' the matter, Johan, you're actin' kinda weird."

Johan swallowed hard and gave a short nod. "Well, Judai-Kun, I wanted to ask you something." The hands behind his back fumbled with a rose that he was holding.

"Anything," Judai answered with a warm smile.

"Judai, would you join me for a picnic?" Johan stuttered. He held the rose out to Judai awkwardly, eyes trained on his shoes.

"Why sure, but what's that for?" Of course, the boy was oblivious to the subtleties of love.

"I just asked you out, Judai—Kun."

"I know, but I still don't understand what the flower's for."

Johan started out chuckling, which then became full-fledged laughter. With Judai, there was no reason to be nervous. He understood that now.

"Judai, if you meet me under the tree on the cliff, I'll explain, kay?" Johan said through giggles.

Johan drummed his fingers on the tree in impatience of Judai's arrival. What could be taking him so long? It was making Johan grow anxious. Did the brunette finally figure out Johan's intentions and grow disgusted? Suddenly, Johan's stomach was doing summersaults. Ruby appeared, sitting on Johan's shoulder to provide him comfort.

The teal haired boy took a deep breath. He had to be rational. He'd known Judai for some time, and Judai would think no such thing. Johan exhaled and looked up. Squinting, he made out Judai's figure in the distance.

Judai clambered up the hill until there he sat at Johan's side. Scratching the back of his head, Judai said, "Sorry I'm here so late."

"Kuri, kuri," Kuriboh said just as apologetically.

Johan found himself breathing slightly heavier. A dark blush spread across his face. "It's alright," The teal haired boy mumbled.

Judai said, "Hey, your face is all red, you're not catching a cold, are ya'?

"No, Judai-Kun," Replied Johan. He gulped. "Can I ask you something?"

"Ask away."

"What does love mean to you?"

Judai was silent, and Johan knew the question itself was a risky one. It had to be asked, though.

"Love. Hm, I love my friends and family. I love dueling. Does that answer the question?"

Johan smiled. "I suppose," He mused.

"Why do ya' ask?"

Johan chuckled. "I told you I'd answer your question from earlier, Judai-Kun." Judai gave Johan a quizzical look. "Judai, I—I love you. I lover you not in the way you described, no, I lover you deeper than that."

Slowly, the distance between the two's lips became smaller and smaller. Johan closed that small gap. Their lips fit together like two pieces in a jigsaw puzzle.

Johan pulled away, both boys huffing slightly. Johan clasped his hands to his mouth. "I—I…Judai-Kun," Johan stammered, realizing what he had done.

Judai didn't really know what'd just happened. He'd kind of liked it, though, and he craved more. His lips met Johan's again, caressing each other's.

It was hardly believed that Judai, the boy who'd once dueled for Asuka to be his fiancée, without knowing of the word's meaning, found love. Even less that his love was of the same sex.

You don't choose love, love chooses you.
