The Glade was full of excitement since Thomas, Minho and Alby survived and returned home. But some of the Gladers saw only violation against the Order. Thanks to them he has a promise of night in Slammer after the Gathering. Thanks to Newt just one night,
Still, Thomas knew something is strange on Newt since he went into the Maze. Thomas didn't know why, but it really bothered him, like he could have had less friends that Chuck and him. He needs someone to survive here and he was actually pretty good friend. Someone you can trust, say anything and expect help. Chuck was a perfect example of it but because of his age, Thomas couldn't tell him everything. Newt was a wiser one in Glade- that's why didn't want to lose him.
It all escalated when they were going to his today's bedroom in jail; completely alone near the woods. Newt started off on him:
"Remember one thing- don't you ever do this to me again, understand Tommy?!" Newt surprised Thomas by yelling on him. This was NOT Newt who Thomas knew. Why is he so harsh about the Order? Why he's blaming only me?, he thought.
"And what about Minho... and Alby? He would had not any chance out there. I had to do it..!" Thomas defended himself. He didn't know what to think. Yes, maybe Newt is right but still... it was best decision. It was my decision and if…
"But I care only about you! Don't you get it?" After this sentence both of them stood in complete silence; Thomas was completely confused. What? What does he mean? Why does he care only about me? Is it something like he said when Ben attacked me?
"Ehm... What?" Thomas finally broke the air. Newt's was pure red at that moment. Or is he-
"Forget it! It was silly of me. C'mon let's get you to the bloody room as soon as possible. You wanted to think there, right? Now it's your chance." He started to run with him pretty fast, like Thomas did in the Maze. Thomas really didn't mind, but Newt's leg actually made him worry: "Slow down. We don't have to go so fast. Your leg must have hurt."
"Now you cares about me, huh? But what about you? But don't you ever get in danger again, ok?" Thomas answered with just simple 'yes'. He thought what he just said to him; didn't know what to think about Newt.
When they arrived to the Slammer, both of them we're unsure. Thomas didn't know why Newt reacted that way and whole 'I care about you' thing... Like had not enought problems. Newt looked like he didn't wanted to leave him here. So after a couple minutes, when Thomas was inside and Newt really had to go, he left with 'Well... thanks Tommy… for everything.' and Thomas stood there with mind full of question not just abou maze.
