It didn't really matter. Not in the long run.

He wouldn't have cared anyway.

He might even have laughed at her.

Not that it would have made a difference.

It was never that important.

Some part of her wishes she had spoken when she had the chance.

Perhaps, he would have understood.

He would have turned her away.

She could not have borne it then.

She is stronger now for it.

They always met in silence.

It was their secret.

Once she had graduated, they never spoke at all.

He died a hero.

It was best he never knew.
