She never knew how he felt when he saw her, all of eleven and all stone and swords. But it was her eyes, those hazel eyes, the eyes that disguised but never really hid her anger and passion and surprise.
And he adores her, a menacing love that can't ever be known. And it won't, because he doesn't give things away. Unlike her, his eyes can hide things. To show one feeling, using it to mask his true thoughts.
And the years pass and they grow and change and she rides in one direction, whilst he follows the path of another. But they come together again. That final deciding night, where his fate will be decided and through his, hers. But he isn't sure what's coming, he doesn't know what to choose. Because he loves her but his obsession is warped and it will destroy her. But if he tries to let it go, the Chamber will use it to tear him apart.
And that night, under the Goddess's single, silver eyes, he makes his choice.
Sometimes when I say, "Oh, I'm fine." I just want someone to look me in the eyes and say, "Tell the truth"
And no one did. And he never faced her, never faced his thoughts, his feelings. Until that night, when he must reflect. And he knows.
And when finally, someone asks him to tell the truth…
He turns his back.
And he burns.
