Sonic snuck onto Eggman's base easily and stealthily. It didn't take long for the young hedgehog to find Eggman working on a new experiment in his newly rebuilt lab. It was nice to see that Eggman was able to get it back to mormal so quickly after their fight yesterday, though he'll never understand why the genius rebuilding it. The blue hedgehog was only going to have to destroy is again in a few days.

"Back again Sonic?" Eggman laughed, without turning around. He bent over to pick up a bolt that had fallen on the floor, stealing a glance at Sonic as he stood back up.

The hedgehog stopped dead in his tracks. "Don't tell anyone, okay?" Sonic asked as he sat down, watching Eggman.

Eggman's hands stopped moving and his voice became serious, "Of course I wouldn't."

"I know you wouldn't," Sonic said, suddenly feeling nervous. "I just wanted to clarify that we weren't telling anyone."

Eggman only nodded as he continued working.

Sonic got up and walked to stand by Eggman. "So, what's this?" He asked, trying to sound as casual as possible.

Eggman stopped and stared down at his experiment. His expression was full of shock as if he just realized he had been working on something. He shook is head, "I don't really know actually. I was just trying to keep my hands and mind busy. I guess it's the next thing I'm going to use to attack you and your friends."

Sonic shuddered a little but when he spoke his voice was full of sarcasm. "Sounds scary, but if that's the case, you shouldn't work on it while I'm here. I might find out how it works and destroy it within seconds."

Eggman continued staring down at the experiment. "Makes sense," he muttered.

Sonic poked Eggman in the side. "Hey, cheer up."

Eggman looked at Sonic and searched his face, "Don't you ever get tired of us fighting each other all the time?"

Sonic shrugged, "It's kind of our thing, isn't it?"

Eggman nodded. "Yeah, I guess it is," he muttered.

Sonic looked into Eggman's eyes. "Eggman, are you okay?"

"It's just...I don't know. It just doesn't seem right. We fight all the time. It's gets to the point where we almost kill each other, but yet, here you are talking to me like I'm your best friend. You're here, wondering if I'm okay, and joking about our next fight."

Sonic chuckled lightly but could see that Eggman was really worried about this, so when he spoke he kept his voice as serious as possible. "That just means we have this love-hate relationship going on."

Eggman looked away to avoid Sonic's eyes, "I just wish that it was more love than hate."

A worried look suddenly appeared across Sonics features. "It is Eggman, it is."

Eggman dropped into a nearby chair, facing Sonic, "I need you to prove that."

Sonic was standing next to Eggman in a second. "And how do you want me to do that," Sonic asked, crawling into Eggman's lap.

Eggman blushed a little. "Can you call me Ivo?"

Sonic could only stare up at Eggman.

Eggman's blush deepened, "Or you can call me Robotnik. That's fine too."

Sonic pulled himself up onto his knees and put Eggman's...uh...Ivo's face between his hands. "Is that all you wanted? You had me worried for a second...Of course I can call you Ivo."

A smile spread across Eggman's face. "Excellent."

Sonic chuckled lightly and kissed Ivo softly. "I have to go now," he said quietly, "but I'll be back soon. I promise." And with that, Sonic sped from the room.

Eggman sighed, and looked around. He noticed his experiment and went over to it. He started humming as he scooped up the experiment and threw it in the trash. The next attack could wait a while. He was going to remember today.
