The Line in the Sand
Dean lay on his back, stunned.
The remains of the glass and wood coffee table dug into his back, but he barely gave that pain a thought. The empty crater of his chest felt like it could collapse into his backbone.
Dean had done it. He had drawn that line in the sand, and Sammy had crossed it.
You walk out that door, don't you ever...
He had hated himself when the sentence crossed his lips. Sam had recognized the words, almost smiling when he heard them.
Dean rolled off the debris, grimacing, then standing. There was work to do.
