The Devlan's:

Mr. Brody Devlan had known his wife when she was in the Navy. He'd known her for almost ten years, two before they got married. But his worst nightmare came true when her Commanding Officer had her shot down over North Korea, only two years before she was to retire. From what she told him, she was tortured for 9½ months before she was able to escape to South Korea & get home. But now she's retired from the Navy & he's gone into the Army. He's been in the Army for four years. And he's been assigned to Fort Marshal.

Mrs. Heaven Devlan couldn't believe she was going back to Fort Marshal. As a kid, she had lived on Fort Marshal for 2½ years with her father. Now she would be returning with her husband & two children. Fortunately for her, in her years in the Navy & all the moving around, she had collected some orphaned animals in the countries she lived in, including two Siberian tigers & an African lion. The Army was allowing them to stay at the Base only if they were caged in a proper way, and if they didn't attack anyone. But these were no ordinary cats. They had been to Iraq & back twice already. These big cats knew how to get into tight spaces and come back with enough information to capture insurgents. They were licensed by the Army as Spy Cats.

Mr. Brody & Mrs. Heaven Devlan would be on Fort Marshal within tow days. The cats would be in training with Lt. Brody Devlan. And they would be treated like any other soldier, only different because they were animals. But it was the nightmares that would get Naval Lt. Kernel Heaven Devlan noticed by the other families who lived on Fort Marshal.
