Hey, everyone! Yup, another SVU fic where I'm completely evil to Fin. I don't know why I did it. It was supposed to be a post-finale fic. That didn't work and...well, you'll just have to read it. I know. I'm evil.

He should have gone. When Olivia showed up at his door again and told him Fin was hurt, he should have grabbed his coat and gone with her to the hospital.
He didn't.
He shouldn't have told her he'd go later, that Fin would be fine. He should have reacted like any son that finds out his father's in the hospital. He should have panicked and rushed to his father's side.
He didn't.
He shouldn't have blown Fin off all those times he'd tried to talk. When the whole Darius situation had been going down, he'd heard them telling Fin he didn't know his son. Fin had always been the one that would call, try to set things straight. He should have listened.
He didn't.
He shouldn't have held all those grudges. Staying angry at his father for a decade over a stupid thing he'd done as a kid. He shouldn't have even been touching the stuff in his dad's glove box. Fin had had every right to yell at him. He should have told him he was sorry.
He didn't.
He shouldn't have closed the door in Olivia's face. That chair in the waiting room and the one beside Fin's bed should have had his ass planted in the seat. They didn't. No, the ones at home did. They had him sitting in front of the TV, feet on the coffee table. He should have made sure he was in one of those God awful chairs.
He didn't.
He shouldn't have believed his father was invincible. No one was. And now, the black suit weighing heavy on his frame as he stood in front of his father's grave, he couldn't stop the tears. He could feel Olivia's hand on his shoulder, could hear her own sobs, but he couldn't tear his eyes away from the folded American flag that had been placed in his hands.
He should have gone.
He didn't.
