Okay, so this is my first One-Shot, and I'm hoping you all like it. I do not own Alex Rider, Anthony Horowitz does. Also, even though it's a One-Shot, can you please review so I know how you felt? Thanks! Here it is:

One Tear of Sadness

The head of Military Intelligence Six, or MI6, sat at his desk, thinking. His name was Mr. Blunt, and he had a very important decision to make. ShouldIgowithmyhead, ormyheart? He wondered. Just five minutes ago, he had heard that Alex Rider, teenage spy, had been captured by Scorpia.

Now, he had to decide on going with his head, which told him to wait and gather more information before rescuing the agent, or going with his heart, which told him to send as many troops as possible into the warehouse where Rider was being held.

He gazed, unseeing, at his closed door before making his decision. The boy can hold on for one more week, he decided. He always has.

One week later, the extraction team had been sent in, and Mr. Blunt was, once again, sitting at his desk. Only this time, he was waiting on the news of how the rescue went. A phone call interrupted his thoughts, and he leaned over to pick it up.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Blunt, I am afraid that I am not calling on happy news."

"Yes?" Blunt asked impatiently.

"No prisoners were found in the warehouse. The only thing there was a body, beaten and bloodied so badly it is unrecognizable. It is being sent in to have DNA tests taken."

"Alright, then. Inform me when it is done."

Two days later... Mr. Blunt picked up the phone, effectively stopping the ringing. "Hello, Mr. Blunt, we have the results."

"Well, what is it?"

"The body is Alex Rider. More tests indicated that he died from severe injuries merely three hours before the extraction team reached him."

"Very well." Blunt replied. He hung up. Several thoughts ran through his head, but the main one was, Imadethewrongdecision,andnow,he'sdead.Ishouldhavegonewithmyheart.

If anyone had been watching, they would have been surprised to see the normally cold and unemotional head of MI6 shed one tear of sadness for the spy.
