"I Don't Want to Feel Like This"

I had no idea where I was going with this story when I got the idea in my head, but then it ended like this. Please enjoy and review!

Climbing out onto the roof of the Xavier Institute, a young woman with raspberry colored hair, tanned skin and brown eyes dressed in a pair of jeans and a grey hoodie sat down, staring out at the forest that surrounded the mansion.

Pulling her knees up to her chest, the girl stared out into the distance, thinking over what had happened to her earlier.

She went through a dramatic mess with her former boyfriend and broke up with him because she realized that being with him made her feel disgusted with herself.

The woman was one of the many mutants who was born with a physical mutation and she was scared of the way she looked since most people found she had the appearance of a demon.

Her boyfriend was born with a physical mutation as well and she thought that they would be able to have a wonderful relationship and bond, but she learned that he wasn't the one for her.

Hearing someone stepping out onto the roof behind her, the raspberry haired woman looked over and found a muscular man with wild dark hair dressed in jeans, a white shirt and leather jacket.

"I was wonderin' where you went off to." He said.

"Hey, Logan. What's up?" The woman asked.

Walking over to where she was sitting, Logan sat down beside her and his hazel eyes peered into hers.

"I heard about your break-up with Nightcrawler. What's going on, Daisy? I thought you were happy with him." Logan inquired.

Sighing at that, Daisy pulled her hood back and revealed the black horns she had on her temples and her pointed ears.

"I was, until he started ditching me to hang out with Shadowcat. I let it go for a while now, but then I started to realize that he still has feelings for her. Pretty little Kitty who has no deformities and doesn't have to worry about people hating her because of the way she looks." Daisy sighed.

"You're not deformed." Logan told her.

"Well, that's how I feel. Every time I'm with Kurt, he makes me feel sick and disgusted with myself." Daisy said.

Logan narrowed his eyes in confusion.

He didn't understand how Kurt, someone who was covered in blue fur and had a tail, would make Daisy feel bad about herself.

"What are you talkin' about?" Logan questioned.

Letting her legs relax and stretch out in front of her, Daisy placed her hands behind her and thought over how to explain things to the older mutant.

"Every time we go out, Kurt has his holowatch on to hide the way he looks. He doesn't want to be seen without it and he doesn't want…he never wants to touch me. I get that he was raised Catholic, but all I want is to be held and kissed. That's okay and it's not dirty. It's just me wanting comfort, but he doesn't seem to be okay with wanting to do that. But then I see him being all friendly and fine with touching Kitty and it makes me feel gross." Daisy ranted.

Smelling the salt from the tears gathering in her eyes, Logan reached out and picked up the woman, pulling her into his lap and wrapped his arms around her.

He wasn't one to show affection to others, but Daisy was important to him.

He had been the one who found her and brought her to the school where she could feel safe and enjoy her life, but it seemed like she found someone here who made her feel terrible about the way she was born.

Her sweater fell off of her shoulders as her black dragon wings spread out around them, wrapping around the duo to hide them from the world.

"How am I supposed to feel good about the way I look, the way I was born, if my own boyfriend can't be proud of the way he looks? The way he seems to avoid me and refuses to touch me makes me want to throw up. I hate it, I hate the way he makes me feel. So, I broke up with him and…now I feel like I can breathe again. I can stop trying to hide myself when we go out together and I don't have to feel bad anymore. I don't have to let his stupid insecurities make me feel like a freak or something disgusting. I can just focus on being myself instead of trying to doll myself up to make him happy." Daisy said.

Placing his head on top of Daisy and breathing in her scent, Logan tried to relax and rubbed her back making her almost purr at the feeling of the strong hand easing away her tension.

"I'm sorry you had to go through this. I didn't even notice how miserable you were." Logan apologized.

Nuzzling her face into the crook of his neck, Daisy sighed and began to smile happily as she felt relaxed and not depressed for once in such a long time.

"No one did. I thought maybe if I kept pretending that everything was okay and I was happy that maybe I would soon start to feel that way. It didn't work out that way." Daisy muttered.

"Believe me, I know. I've been trying that out for years. If you want to feel better about yourself, then you need to do what you think is best." Logan told her.

Resting her head on his shoulder, Daisy began to think it over.

The next day, when Daisy went to school, she decided to ditch her hoodie.

Pulling up to the school, Logan watched Daisy as she kept her wings folded against her back and her tail unwound from around her waist.

She was dressed in a pair of jeans, black high heels and a light purple spaghetti strapped top while her hair was tied up into a ponytail and revealed the demonic markings she had on her shoulders and back.

"You sure you want to do this?" Logan asked her.

"Yeah. I'm going out there and I'm going to show everyone what I really look like. If they don't like it, then that's their problem. I'm not going to hide anymore. No one is going to make me feel disgusted with myself ever again." Daisy vowed.

Logan smirked at that, feeling proud of the young woman for being able to take this big step.

It was one he knew most other mutants would never be able to do.

"Go on, knock 'em dead." He said.

Smiling, Daisy leaned over and pulled the older mutant into a hug before she pulled back and grabbed her messenger bag, ready to face the day.

Opening the car door, Daisy stepped out and caught the attention of everyone in the front yard, including her friends Rogue, Jean, Scott, Amara, Bobby and Tabitha.

Kurt, who was disguising himself as usual, was standing with Kitty and they both looked over in shock at the sight of Daisy revealing herself to the school.

Some people looked fearful by the sight of the Japanese girl, but there were some who looked to be in awe of her.

Rogue rushed over to Daisy and linked an arm with her, pulling her off to where their group of friends were waiting, all of them smiling.

"Why did you decide to do this?" Scott asked.

"Because I was sick of pretending to be something I'm not." Daisy stated.

Looking out at the people who were staring at her, Daisy rolled her eyes and decided to make something very clear to them all.

Stepping back from her friends and spreading out her arms, she addressed the gathered people.

"This is me! I can't change the way I was born. Just like how people can't change their nationality, their skin color or their sexuality. We should be proud of the way we are born and shouldn't be forced to hide it or suppress it." She announced.

Her voice carried over the school yard and some people, the ones who weren't white or were part white, seemed to be listening to Daisy's words and took them to heart.

They knew what it was like to be bullied and feel uncomfortable in their own skin for being different than everyone else.

"I'm not the one with the problem. Those who choose to hate blindly are the ones with the problem. If you have an issue with me for being a Japanese-Canadian woman who has no religion and is a mutant, then I don't care. I am who I am and no one can change me and I won't change for anyone. Get over it." Daisy said.

Tabitha then cheered loudly which made Amara clap and Bobby whistled in appreciation while Jean and Scott smiled happily.

Kurt ducked his head down while Kitty cheered as well.

Done with her announcement, Daisy turned and made her way over to her friends and was pulled into Jean's side as they all made their way into the school to begin their day.

Smiling proudly at what he had witnessed, Logan turned the car back on and drove off back to the mansion, knowing for a fact that Daisy would be fine.

The end.
