Hey guys! So this is a story where Hiccup will be taken to an alternative universe, where he gets to see what it would've been like if he'd never shot down Toothless. ( yes I know season 6 had an episode like this, but mine is WAY different to stick with me ) This has nothing to do with my own season 6; It's set around season 5 or 6 of Rtte and it will have a lot of chapters as it will be a long story;) Hope u guys like it!

Hiccup dashed through the trees as a little twig slashed his burning cheek. He jumped over rocks and hurdled under large branches with heavy breathes
Between the sound of dragon hunters yelling, and the beat of dragon wings above him, he felt trapped as a little blood trickled down his face
He looked up as his hair rustled in the breath of the Deadly Nadder as he so desperately tried to reach it
Doing so, Hiccup tripped over a rock and tumbled towards the edge of a cliff
He looked down at the swelling ocean, as little pebbles met the surface of the ocean sending little splashes up
Hiccup licked his cheek with the blood and looked up to the Deadly Nadder
"Stormfly!" Hiccup called as hunters started to surround him as they drew their weapons
They closed in on him as Hiccup grimaced his face and drew inferno from his side, sparking it and waving it in front of their faces as they were mesmerized
Before anyone could strike Stormfly dove down and grabbed Hiccup in a wing beat that the hunters fell off the cliff
Hiccup looked back at the island and chuckled as he watched his enemies fall to their doom and then he looked up at Stormfly from her grasp of him in her claws
"Let me guess, Astrid sent you," Hiccup said as he put inferno in his side pocket
Stormfly clucked and threw Hiccup on her back as he wailed
"Of course she did." Hiccup said with a sigh as he looked back at the island longingly with a sad expression as stormfly zoomed through the clouds to dragons edge

"There they are!" Fishlegs cried as Astrid looked up from a detailed map and sighed in relief as she ran after fishlegs
Stormfly landed and allowed Hiccup to get off of her, as Fishlegs picked up Hiccup into a bone crushing hug
"Hiccup! Your okay!" Fishlegs shouted as he swung Hiccup
"Yep never been better," Hiccup said trying to breath and collapsed to the ground clutching his rib when Fishlegs let him go
"Oh sorry Hiccup, just glad your ok," Fishlegs said helping him up as Hiccup smiled at him "It's alright Fishlegs,"
Astrid stormed over to Hiccup with an angry expression, as Fishlegs slowly backed away and Hiccup gulped and had a frightened look on his face
"Hiccup what did I tell you! No more going to that island ALONE!" Astrid said hands on her hips, leaned in close
"Ok umm I'm just gonna go now... Uh I'll take Stormfly and uh yeah ok bye" Fishlegs said as Hiccup and Astrid looked at him all weird and he vanished with Stormfly
"Look I'm sorry but I'm not giving up till I get that antidote. Alone or not" Hiccup said back, recovering from Fishlegs' weird behavior
"Hiccup its too risky to be there alone, you know that place is crawling with hunters and wild dragons, two things that could kill you," she said as Hiccup stood up a little taller
"I don't care. I'm willing to sacrifice my life for Toothless. He's done it way too many times for me and now it's my turn. You can't make my decisions or change them either Astrid, so let it go," Hiccup finally bursted and felt guilt tingle up as spine as he saw Astrid's expression of shock and worry
"A-astrid I'm sorry it's just-"
He stopped abruptly as she cupped his cheek and wiped away the blood with her finger
Hiccup sighed as he leaned into her touch and she as well sighed with a sad expression
"Look I get it, you want to save toothless. I do too hiccup. We all do. But what's the point of you doing it by yourself and risking your life. You'd die, toothless would die- Hiccup you've gotta let this alone thing go. We're a team, we do things together and were stronger together. So promise me you won't go alone again. Deal?" She said as she looked at him with one eye raised
"Okay, deal" he said as she kissed his cheek and walked away
"Hiccup don't worry we will save Toothless," she said turning around and continued her walk to the stables
Hiccup gave a little smile and then slumped his shoulders and walked to away as the breeze rustled through his hair

He arrived to his hut, and opened the door to see his dying dragon slowly breathing with a hurting expression
"Hey boy," hiccup said kneeling down next to toothless and stroking his head softly, and pushing his water bowl closer to him
Toothless groaned and tried to get up, but collapsed doing so
"Toothless no, you need to rest" he said as he rubbed his best friends head, and Toothless lowly crooned in pain as he shifted uncomfortably
He sat down next to him and laid his head on toothless' as he tried to hold back the tears and heavily sighed. It's gonna be ok. He's gonna be ok, he thought to himself
"It's ok bud. I'll save you and you'll be ok. I promise" hiccup said burying his face into his dragons chest listening to his soothing heartbeat that hiccup hoped would never stop

"Okay guys, we're looking for a flower that's called the mistlemimer, it'll help Toothless," Hiccup said from behind Astrid on Stormfly, as they started to see the outline of the island on the horizon
"Yeah okay sure, but can you tell us what it looks like, cause last time I checked flowers don't talk, so henceforth it can't tell us it's name," Tuff said as Ruff nodded with him in unison
"It's yellow, and has a black spot in the middle. But make sure to pick it up from the root," Fishlegs said as the twins gave him a thumbs-up and Snotlout grunted
"Wait, there's always a catch, so why do we pick it up from the root?" He asked expecting it to be bad news
"Because it's poisoness to humans, and a medicine for dragons. So don't touch the petals," Astrid said turning around in her saddle
"How come everyone knows about this flower but me?" Snotlout shouted and the twins flew closer to him
"Hey, we didn't know about it either Snotlout," Ruff said as Tuff nodded
"You two don't count," Snotlout said annoyed as they urged their dragons closer to the island

"Hey fishface, is this it?" Snotlout asked crouched down, looking closely at a yellow flower that looked like it just bloomed
"Is there a black spot?" Fishlegs asked coming over, inspecting the flower
"Uhhh does there need to be?" Snotlout asked with a chuckle as Fishlegs grunted turning away from the false flower
"Yes, there does. And remember don't pick it up-"
"By the root. Yeah yeah I got it," Snotlout said waving Fishlegs away and Hookfang shoved Snotlout, catching him off guard
"Geez, it's like no one thinks I pay attention. Am I right Hookfang?" Snotlout said with a chuckle, and Hookfang warbled with a laugh
"Hey! What did we talk about! No laughing," Snotlout said angrily, pointing at his dragon and Hookfang rolled his eyes walking away from Snotlout, and he grunted
Fishlegs walked over to Meatlug, petting her and looked around to see if there was any sign of the flower
"It's ok girl. We'll find that flower," He said as Meatlug perked up happily, and Snotlout's cry of distress caught them off guard
"Hey! Uh could you get me down from here?" Snotlout asked hanging upside down in a tree, swinging back and forth, causing Fishlegs to groan in annoyance
"Snotlout, you need to watch for traps, remember this used to be a dragon hunter base," Fishlegs said coming over to him motioning for Meatlug to get him down
"Well, maybe you should've said that earlier. That would've been helpful ," Snotlout said, as Meatlug bit the rope off his tied up leg, and he fell to the ground with a thud
Fishlegs walked away from him and continued on a different path "Now come on, we don't have much time left,"

"Not your left mutton head! My left!" Ruff shouted at her brother as they were deciding which way to go, as they both tugged at their dragons, in opposite directions
"Excuse me missy, but I happen to know my lefts and rights, and I believe it is my left," Tuff shot back at his sister who punched his arm, and he rubbed his arm tenderly
"We aren't getting anywhere with your stupidity Tuff! So let's just go my way and hope to find whatever were looking for," she yelled, gesturing to her direction
"Fine," Tuff said defeated, "We will go your way, but as I always say trust your instincts," He said, leaning in close to his sisters face
"What's that got to do with anything?!" Ruff shouted angrily throwing her arms around, clearly very agitated
"Wait Ruff, be quiet! Look down there," Tuff whisper shouted, pointing down to the rustling trees below them
Ruff's eyes widened at what they saw, and they urged Barf and Belch down to the strange activity, to get a closer look

"Anything?!" Astrid shouted to Hiccup, who slowly emerged from a cave, slumped lowly and shook his head and Astrid sighed disappointedly
She got off Stormfly, and walked over to Hiccup's slumped figure "Well, we haven't searched on the South side of the island yet, so maybe if we-"
"What's the point, Astrid. I've searched that side of the island before when I came here alone. And I doubt the others are having any luck either," Hiccup said walking over to Stormfly, and mounting her
"Hiccup-" She said reaching out her hand to him, as worry filled her tone. Hiccup doesn't give up this easily
"No, Astrid. It's my fault Toothless was stung by those Mistleinsect things, and now he's suffering because of me." He said sadly, as Astrid attempted to say something, but Hiccup continued to talk
"He's going to die because of me. Because of my obsession with defeating the dragon hunters, and discovering new dragons. Because of my selfishness," He continued, sounding defeated and Astrid walked over, placing her hand on his hand, and he looked to her with a distressed expression
"Hiccup, the last thing you are is selfish. And Toothless is not going to die. We will find that antidote," She said assuringly, getting on Stormfly in front of him
Hiccup sighed heavily, drooping his head low as Astrid was filled with pity for him, and patted Stormfly and they took off into the sky

"Is...is that what I think it is dear brother?" Ruffnut whispered to her brother, crouched lowly in the bushes next to him
"I believe it is dear sister...a Titan Wing Zippleback. In all its glory," Tuff said in awe, as they both stared in amazement at the huge Zippleback
They tried to approach it slowly, but Barf and Belch gave them away by steeping on a huge twig with a snap. The Titan Wing looked over to them and growled as they flipped their tail, tripping Ruff and Tuff, and they fell and quickly picked themselves up running as fast as they could
"Way to go you scaly two headed dragon! You gave us away!" Tuff shouted at Barf and Belch as they were now running through the bushes, dodging huge branches

"Ugh, how much longer do we have to keep looking? My feet are swelling to the size of watermelons," Snotlout complained, slowly trailing behind Fishlegs and Meatlug
"For the last time Snotlout, until we find that flower. We're not leaving here without it," Fishlegs ordered him, turning around to face him and Snotlout moaned with annoyance
"Someone else could've already found it, and besides a little nap never hurtled anyone," Snotlout said, sitting dow and leaning against a tree
"Ugh, Snotlout! Get up, we're not here to take naps!" Fishlegs shouted to him, placing his hands on his hips as Hookfang tried to nudge Snotlout up
"Ugh, go away Hookfang. I'm trying to sleep," Snotlout said pushing his dragon away, and Fishlegs was just about done with Snotlout right now
They were interrupted by a huge rustle in the bushes, and Snotlout quickly perked up and Fishlegs started to quiver nervously and hid behind Meatlug
The dragons started to lowly growl, and Snotlout stood up and ran in front of Hookfang and Fishlegs, drawing his axe
"Hookfang, flame up!" he ordered his dragon, and Hookfang quickly lit himself on fire an Fishlegs peered out from behind Meatlug, looking at the bushes that were rustling very loudly
"Don't worry Fishface. I've got this," Snotlout said, grimacing his face towards the bushes, and to their surprise, the twins and Barf and Belch jumped out causing Fishlegs to shriek in surprise
"Ruff?! Tuff?! Seriously, don't scare them like that again. Anyways, why were you running?" Snotlout asked the panting twins, and Tuff looked up to him with exhaustion
"No...no...time...to...explain...RUN SNOTTY AND FISHFACE!" Tuff shouted as the Titan Wing Zippleback emerged from the bushes and started to fire at all of them and Fishlegs shrieked once more
"Everyone take cover!" Snotlout shouted, as everyone quickly hid behind trees and bushes and the dragons shot at the Zippleback, fighting it off
"Phew. That was close," Fishlegs said, coming out of his hiding spot and running over to Meatlug, inspecting her to make sure she was okay
"Tell me about it. That was a little too close, even for us," Tuff replied, gesturing to himself and his sister and Snotlout grunted
"Um excuse me, but why did you lead that thing right to us!" He shouted angrily at the twins
"Hey, it's not like we knew where you were. So simmer down Snotlout," Ruff barked back, crossing her arms causing Snotlout to grunt in annoyance
They were all interrupted by a squawk heard from above, and they looked up to see Stormfly, and she landed with a thud next to them as Hiccup and Astrid got off
"Did you guys find the flower?" Fishlegs asked coming over to them, as Astrid shook her head and Fishlegs looked worriedly over to Hiccup
"Oh yeah. We did!" Tuff shouted, pulling out the flower and revealing it to everyone, as they all looked to the twins dumbfounded
"You mean to tell me, that you had that thing the whole time and you didn't even bother to tell us?!" Snotlout shouted to the twins
"Well, if you didn't notice we were a little busy with that Zippleback so back off Snotlout!" Ruff shouted to Snotlout and he facepalmed
Hiccup's face lit up, and he rushed over to the twins taking the flower delicately from them and inspecting it as Fishlegs came over too
"That's it! The Mistlemimer!" Fishlegs shouted with excitement as Hiccup ran back to Stormfly, mounting her and everyone else got on their dragons as well
Hiccup looked to Astrid and she smiled at him assuringly, and so did the other riders
"We need to get this back to Toothless. Now," He said, as they all took to the sky, back to where Toothless was slowly getting weaker...

Sorry the first chapter was kinda short, but all the others will be pretty long hopefully:) Next chapter you'll see why Hiccup wishes he never shot down Toothless so stay tuned;) Also I'll be realesing chapter 2 for my Berserker Bound Pat 1 episode in a bit so stay tuned for that as well.
