World's end umbrella

The great umbrella covering the land. A single tower is built in the center a, mass of machinery props it up. As one would expect the villages get no sun but instead are tormented by leaks called "rain."

But the people do not question.

For it is commonplace.

It means nothing.

It is simply law.

The story books say we live under the umbrella to keep us safe from the sky above, the adults say we must never leave the shade of the umbrella. But I think that the umbrella deceives the sun, and the sky cries and the town blind suspects nothing and so do you. He look at the umbrella and spat at it, the rain continues to fall and we were left silent.

After all what can we do, we are just kids a girl and a boy, we are grains of sand on beach, we are nothing, no

We didn't hear anyone but he grasped the rain and took my hand and towards the umbrella... We ran

Together we made a promise to go see that sky we've only seen in story books.

And in that moment the rain seem to stop and for once in 12 years my troubles were forgotten.

Struggling through the poring rain the two of us made it to the umbrella tower. The great double doors would hardly budge no matter how hard we pushed or pulled the doors they were stuck their like super glue. But we would not be rejected for not anyone can enter key or no, it seems it would mean nothing on the other side of that door. But luck was in our favor because he found another door that leads up a staircase.

We headed somewhere up a crumbling spiraling staircase. Our clothes stain black among the dripping rain echo and as i was about to cry, you comforted me, for you, ever so gentle, took my hand.

Chasing after a white shadow it ran ahead passed a row of cages. No time to look for reason, nor any desire.

You calmly held my trembling hand, so i'll watch your back. The gears disappeared into the darkness behind me laughed at us and the wind stroked your cheek faintly.

"The winds is blowing," said the girl the boy quietly agreed. They didn't stop their feat it seem they'd gone to far to go back, know one ever saw them again because no trace was ever found, no trace was found.

Soon we could see the white shadow no more, although very sad it didn't matter. Through the smelling o rust stain black the colors began to brighten. It seemed we could hear a voice from somewhere, maybe our imagination perhaps we'd just forget and lying at the end of the spiraling staircase was very small door, covered with dust, waiting all along.

"Open it," said the girl "ok..."

There... It seemed we perhaps saw everything flowers blooming everywhere with colours I've never seen, and a deep, blue sky. In this captivating world with just the two of us, I don't think I need anything more.

And the sky that had been locked in storybooks so leaving it here it won't be forgotten, as you gave me quickly-made bouquet, we laughed, I leaned against your shoulder.

I prop open an umbrella at the world's end. If only we could have stayed like this forever, but if your there with me all will be fine. I won't be sad when i'm by your side.

The end

On top of the umbrella where the flowers bloom, with faces filled with joy, a pair sleeps softly together...
