The night can't be cut.
Despite all popular references to the contrary.
Night is a measure of time. It has no substance.
It does not exist in reality, but only as an abstract.
If it did exist, however, the streak that runs through it now would surely slice it like a razor.
And the rider atop the streak would surely feel the cold of the dark knife through her in return.
But the night remains, though the streak moves on.
And the rider feels no cold.
The night slips away from her.
The rider feels nothing.
Finally.
As she'd intended.
