Kyoko plopped down on her bed. Tohru was already asleep. It was probably time for her to get to bed too.
She quickly changed into her sleepwear and snuggled into her blanket. The cool darkness fell over her like a blanket. She closed her eyes and dreamt.
It had been a long time since she dreamt of Katsuya. Not since she had realized that she had practically abandoned Tohru when she went into depression.
"Katsuya!" she was filled with so much emotion. She wanted to run into his arms, she wanted to yell at him for leaving her. But she couldn't do any of that. All she could do was look at him as he smiled and said "We'll be together again soon." And he disappeared.
She woke up, breathing heavily. Being together again….that meant she would have to die. She'd finally be able to see him again. She glanced to the side and saw the picture of the three of them. What about Tohru?
Weeks later, Kyoko had almost forgotten what Katsuya had said. All she had on her mind were two things; work and Tohru. That morning, she hadn't bothered to wake Tohru up. She had her exams and she needed all the sleep she could get. "I love you, Tohru." She whispered. Then she left.
The next thing she knew, she was lying flat on her stomach on the parking lot. There was blood. So much blood. Desperately, she looked around for Tohru. She could feel death coming. Katsuya's words rang through her head. But what about Tohru? She couldn't leave her daughter all alone in this cruel world!
Her eyes fell on a familiar orange-haired boy. Yes. He would protect her. "You-"she started, "I'll never forgive you-"she couldn't finish her sentence. The last thing she saw was a look of horror on the boy's face.
Then everything went black.
She woke up near the sea as her thirteen-year-old self again. She stared at it with admiration. She turned around when she heard soft footsteps on the sand. She saw Katsuya. He smiled and held out his hand. Tears filled her eyes. She took his hand and they walked into the sun.
