InuYasha stood there dejected as the court of demons left to meet with the leader of a different demon clan. The silence echoed around him as cruel as the jeers from the humans and demons.
"Hruh!" he through his ball as far as he could and sunk to the ground nearly in tears. His figure shook as he clutched the earth below him.
The patter a sole pair of feet met his ears as someone approached him. "Is this your ball?" looking up he found a girl about his age. Her black hair gleamed in the morning sun sending rainbows around the garden, her brown eyes seemed to go on for eternity, and her pale skin was much like his own.
Standing he watched her cautiously and answered "Yes that's my ball."
"Oh, here…" she handed it over to him. They stood there in silence until the girl told him "My name's Kagome… what's yours?"
"My name is InuYasha." he answered softly.
"Can we play together InuYasha?" she asked hopefully.
"You won't get in trouble?" he asked scared.
"Probably later but my mother doesn't care if I play with half-demons." she answered cheerfully.
Soon the garden was filled with happiness and laughter. Each time it was their turn to toss they would try to make the other miss it and go running after it. Soon it noon and hot out. "Want to play with some of my stuff?" she asked as they hid from the heat under a tree.
"Sure." At this point InuYasha had grown quite confident around Kagome; they rushed into the mansion just to be stopped by Sesshomaru.
"Brother will you please stop dishonoring the heir of the Time Demon Clan and leave her presence?" Sesshomaru asked InuYasha in his solemn way.
Before he could react Kagome glared up at Sesshomaru "Leave my new friend alone! Come one InuYasha!" and with that she dragged InuYasha past Sesshomaru.
The rest of the day was happiest InuYasha could remember from his childhood. Sadly he never met that girl since then.
