"Cody…"
"Squib, you're whining," 22-year-old Cody Myers teased her boyfriend.
"Why do we have to watch this? I mean, it's Mary Poppins! I didn't even like this movie when I was four!"
"It's a classic, and I got to the remote first, so too bad!" She stuck out her tongue at him, and Squib took the opportunity to kiss her (and steal the remote while she was distracted).
The moan she was letting out quickly turned into an annoyed, "Hey!" When she realized she had just been had.
"Now, let's see…what should we watch?" Squib asked aloud, flipping through the channels.
"Squib!" Cody whined.
"Oh, this looks good!"
"No!" Cody shrieked when she saw what he had chosen, "There's no way I'm watching tennis!"
"Oh, come on, Cody," he said, "this is one of the biggest games of the year!"
"How stupid do you think I am, Gary Furlong?" She asked, "We're watching ESPN classics! This game was played years ago!"
"Well, too bad," he smiled, "I have the remote and this is what we're watching."
"Squib!" She shrieked as she dove across his lap in a desperate attempt to retrieve the remote. He held it out of her reach.
"Nice try, Myers," Squib taunted, "but never go into battle with someone taller than yourself." Cody pouted, but didn't move from her spot lying across his legs. He thought she had given up, she knew, but she was mentally counting down in her head.
10…9…8…
She shifted ever so slightly.
6…5…7…
He suspected nothing as she got into position.
4…3…2…1!
She sprung up, taking him by surprise, and snatched the remote from his hands, rolling ever so gracefully onto the floor afterwards. She quickly regained her composure and returned to her original place beside him on the couch.
"Nice try, Furlong," she mocked, "but never go into battle with someone smarter than yourself."
Squib took a moment to reflect on how cute she looked with her hair all messed up from her fall before whining once more, "Cody! Come on!"
"Nope, I have the remote, I get to choose, and I choose Mary Poppins," she smirked.
"Fine," he pouted.
"Oh, stop that," she scolded a few minutes later.
"Stop what?"
"Sulking,"
"I'm not sulking,"
"You are, too," she told him.
"Well if someone would let me watch what I wanted…"
"No, Squib,"
"Why not?"
"Because," she explained, "I'm the girl, and the girl always wins!"
"But why?" He asked.
"Because if you don't let me win, I'll just cry," she smiled.
"Well, you can't argue with that," he mumbled and, although his annoyed tone was still in place, Cody could see a tiny smile forming on his lips.
"Squib," she said ten minutes later.
"What?" He said, still pouting.
"I'm bored,"
"Of this stupid movie? Join the club. Can we change it now?"
"First of all, it's not stupid, it's a classic," she reminded him, "but I'm bored of watching TV."
"Well, then, what do you suggest we do?" He asked, still a little put out about being forced to watch Mary Poppins.
Instead of answering him, she climbed into his lap and the next second, her lips were on his. He pulled away as 'Spoonful of Sugar' started playing on the TV. He sighed angrily, grabbing the remote and shut off the TV.
"Much better," he said.
"But Squib," she said jokingly, "it's a class…" She was cutoff when his mouth returned to hers.
