To her majesty's dwarf Grunamok: the head of international relations,

I have here the account for the total gross capacity of her majesty's greenhouses; 8,356 N.T.'s. There are seventeen structures distributed throughout Narnia, with the exception of the northern moors. I, under the Queen's direction, had ensured that each one was to be tended by several of the enslaved dryads. They are a rebellious people, but certainly they can make things grow, even in winter. However, as of late, the aforementioned individuals have disappeared, they are simply nowhere to be found. On an interim basis, moles have been appointed as gardeners, but it is safe to assume that the edibles output quantity for her majesty's kingdom has been lessened due to this loss of workers.

In response to this situation I propose a new agenda to provide food for loyal Narnians. This is a two step program with an ultimate end in mind of compensating for the shortages caused by the wise and rightful Queen's winter. Firstly, I propose that all food production is stepped up on the islands under Narnian control; the fact that they still retain four seasons has not gone unnoticed to her majesty's eye. If we specialize in grain production, we can feed herds on the mainland, and provide for those talking creatures that are herbivorous, the herds of course will provide sustenance for the wolves and other such creatures. Now, the Queen and her loyal dwarfs will need spices and a larger variety of foods than Narnia is capable of producing itself, our stores are running dangerously low. (Refer to table C-12 Grunamok) To this I suggest a second stage in our plan, that we establish a Narnian consulate in Calormen, or northward to the giants of the Ettinsmoors. The giant realm is little affected by our Narnian winter, and they would be vital allies to have. I trust the Calormenes less so, but The Queen is a powerful diplomat and can subdue any to her cause if only it is her will. The consulate will put a friendly public visage for the world to see, and we can import goods from this foreign locale, or if need be- take them by force. This would be your main objective, to meet with the Tisroc and the giant monarchs. I need not mention it I'm sure, but use the utmost discretion in this matter. Now, if these two plans collapse due to an unforeseen failure I have in mind a third option. Jadis, as is her custom punishes miscreants by petrifying them. To this I say, Why? And wherefore? Many of these beasts are fine animals, and would serve in a pinch to fulfill their countries appetite. Now I know there are inbred scruples against any such action, thoughts about the so called Aslan, but need we fear him? If he exists, the Queen will protect us. There, I have given you some things to think about, please respond swiftly Grunamok.

Yours truly faethelread, the Queen's dwarf.
