The Thing I really Want
Part One When the Rain Stops
By Raven's Midnight Light
It was a stormy Monday morning, raining hard and everything and everyone was soaked in a matter of seconds of stepping out into it. Lighting crackled lighting up the almost pitch black cloudy sky, soon fallowed by a roaring thunder clap. There was no one on the streets well almost no one. Most people stayed home from work or school on such days like this because the driving conditions were just too bad. This didn't stop a couple of children from venturing out into the storm.
A long haired boy roughly 7 years old was running down the street looking for shelter from the storm. Since he didn't have a home so finding such places can be difficult especially if you last residence blew away in the wind… The braided boy was starting to get a little frustrated He was soaked to the bone from head to toe and up to his little ankles in rain water that just kept coming down.
A few blocks down a young short haired Japanese boy about the same age as the long haired one was running down the street. His destination: home. He had snuck out of the house some time during the night before the storm came and got lost. He was trying to find his way back home when the rain started and then all too soon became an all out storm.
The boys kept running and running until they ran right into one another - literally. The young Duo falling over onto the little Heero. The looked at each other dazed and confused. Duo blushed a little and sat up rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.
"Gee sorry about that, buddy! I wasn't really paying attention to where I was going." Duo said standing up offering Heero a hand out to help up which he grabbed. Both boys where sanding in front of another just looking at one another.
"That's ok, I wasn't looking where I was going either." Heero replied shyly smiling. Duo smiled back brightly making Heero smile wider as well they soon where both giggling like mad for no apparent reason. After a few minutes they got control over themselves and just stared; two boys just standing in the rain.
Heero offered now offered his hand out to Duo. "My name is Heero." Heero said. Duo smiled kindly.
"I'm Duo. I may run and hide but I never tell a lie!" Duo said shaking his hand. When their hands touched the rain stopped and the clouds parted letting sunlight shine down on them. The all happened in a matter of seconds. Both boys looked up to the sky wide-eyed in amazement.
"Wow!" They both said in union. Looking back to one another letting go of the others hand.
"I better get back home…" Heero said quietly to his new friend. Duo's face dropped a little.
"Ok." Duo said simply pouting a little. Heero smiled, leaned forward and kissed Duo on the cheek then continued to run home, "Bye, friend Duo!" Heero yelled back. Duo spun around watching Heero continue running.
"Bye-bye, Heero!" Duo yelled back raising his arm waving madly. Duo sighed then tuned back to the direction he was originally running in and continued on.
The sun shown brightly for the rest of the day. When the rain started to dry away on the looking at the ground where the boys had met there were little footprints in the mud. Neither boy knew that this innocent encounter may change their lives in years to come. Because when the rain stops destiny comes out to play.
