Monologue: Brigadoon-Five Years Later
(5 years after the events of Brigadoon (Brigadoon time), one of the Dalrymple ssters has a child of her own, and after another visit by outsiders, she tells the child of her first experience of the miracle.)
'Twas the best day ever. My eldest sibling, and only brother, was t'be married! My sisters and I were so excited and had spent weeks plotting out every last detail. But, the day of the wedding, we –and the whole rest of the town– could only talk about one thing: earlier in the day, two men wandered right into our market wearing the strangest clothes. Of course, the people what came 'round today looked a fair sight stranger, but still. We were all quite unsettled. And the way that Meg looked at one of them!
Well, the wedding went off almost perfect. Meg had us all rolling with laughter, but it ended sadly as Harry Beaton's body was carried off for burial. I believe Maggie Anderson, poor thing, was more distraught than any other; she loved him so. But I'm rambling now, aren't I? The other newcomer, now, he ended up staying. You know Tommy Albright, who married Auntie Jeanie's sister, Fiona? Well, he was the sweet lad what stayed. Just for her! Now it's time to be getting to bed; off ye go.
